A detection method and a detection system for detecting objects of interest attached to a surface of a plurality of reporters, wherein the plurality of reporters are flowing in a microfluidic chip and illuminated by a light source. The detection method has following steps: obtaining a plurality of local surface plasmon resonance (LSPR) spectral images of each the plurality of the reporters individually, wherein each of the LSPR spectral images has a brightness of a long wavelength band (B) and a brightness of a short wavelength band (B); calculating a spectral image brightness contrast γ for each of the LSPR spectral images, wherein and, defining a positive threshold for |γ|≥0.1.

The present invention pertains to detection of a tumor in a urinary organ using microRNA(s). MiR-200c-5p, miR-214-3p, miR-21-5p, miR-21-3p, miR-210-3p and/or miR-200b-3p can be used as biomarkers of tumors in a urinary organ to detect a tumor in or predict a prognosis of a tumor in a urinary organ.

A method and apparatus for surface plasmon resonance imaging are provided for imaging the surface plasmon resonance signals caused by the interaction of biomolecules. In particular, the method and apparatus can image the slightly spectral change in a surface plasmon resonance mode by comparing the light intensities of two bands in the frequency domain of the surface plasmon.

The present invention provides a label-free sensing chip for identifying a chemical substance, comprising: (a) a transparent substrate comprising a base and first periodic ridges; and (b) a metal layer covering said transparent substrate, comprising second periodic ridges and third periodic ridges, in which said second periodic ridges has a height equal to or greater than the height of the first periodic ridges, and each ridge of the second periodic ridges fits into the space between each ridge of the first periodic ridges, and said third periodic ridges correspondingly located on said first periodic ridges. The present invention also provides a method for identifying a chemical substance by using the foresaid label-free sensing chip.

Label-free sensing chip and application thereof

An LCD including a backlight module and an LCD panel is provided. The LCD panel includes a color light guide panel, suitable for differentiating an incident light into multiple color lights. The color light guide panel includes a substrate and a color light output structure. The substrate has multiple pixel regions, and the color light output structure is disposed in each of the pixel regions. The color light output structure includes first&#x2dc;fourth nano-patterns. The incident light is scattered by the first nano-pattern for producing a first color light, scattered by the second nano-pattern for producing a second color light, scattered by the third nano-pattern for producing a third color light, and scattered by the fourth nano-pattern for producing a fourth color light. The color light guide panel can output uniform and high luminous first&#x2dc;fourth color light, and the LCD can display high quality image.

A color light guide panel, suitable for differentiating an incident light into multiple color lights is provided. The color light guide panel includes a substrate and a color light output structure. The substrate has multiple pixel regions, and the color light output structure is disposed in each of the pixel regions. The color light output structure includes a first nano-pattern, a second nano-pattern and a third nano-pattern. The incident light is scattered by the first nano-pattern for producing a first color light, scattered by the second nano-pattern for producing a second color light, and scattered by the third nano-pattern for producing a third color light. The color light guide panel can output uniform and high luminous first, second and third color light. Moreover, a liquid crystal display device having the above color light output structure is also provided.

Techniques for chemically etching a fiber tip to form a smooth fiber probe. One implementation applies a coating layer around a bare fiber to expose only an end facet of the bare fiber and then the exposed end facet is immersed into an etching liquid to be away from a meniscus interface between the etching liquid and the fiber to etch the fiber from the end facet.

Etching method for fabricating high quality optical fiber probe

We disclose a new optical TE-TM mode splitter on lithium niobate. The splitter is fabricated by using an asymmetric Y-junction structure which is composed of a straight waveguide, and two branch waveguides. The straight waveguide is the input one that can guide randomly-polarized light (i.e. both TE and TM modes). The two branch waveguides are the output ones, and one of them can guide only the TE mode, the other can guide only the TM mode. Because the output waveguides can individually guide the TE and TM modes, the input modes are then split by the branch waveguides. The input waveguide is fabricated by diffusing titanium into lithium niobate. The two output waveguides are made by nickel indiffusion and magnesium-oxide induced lithium outdiffusion or proton exchanged techniques.
