A manually actuated liquid pump sprayer, capable of being operated in both an upright position and in an inverted position, includes an adapter attached to its pump body to effect the upright and inverted spray, the adapter having first and second fluid passages extending from an adapter chamber in opposite directions for respectively inletting liquid from the container to the chamber in one of the upright and inverted positions, and being exposed to air in the container in the other such positions, the passages terminating within the chamber in opposing upright and inverted valve seats which are valved controlled by a single gravity shifting ball check valve.

A trigger actuator pump sprayer has a fixed portion at the rearward section of its pump body providing a hand positioner for supporting the pump sprayer when mounted to a container of liquid to be sprayed. Another portion of the rearward section of the pump body is open to facilitate manufacture of the pump body, and is closed by a hood having a fixed piston spring assembly external to the pump chamber for biasing the piston outwardly of its bore.

A dispenser has its closure cap non-removably affixed to a cylindrical attaching portion of its dispenser body by a snap-fit engagement between a folded lower end section of the attaching portion and the closure or a plug located within the closure and in engagement with the attaching portion. The folded lower end section presents an end edge facing outwardly of the closure which engages an inwardly facing end wall of the closure or of the plug.

A precompression pump sprayer of the type having main and secondary pump cylinders and pistons have a two-piece main piston assembly comprising a separate piston sleeve element of molded compliant material and a hollow piston stem of molded rigid material affixed thereto. The more rigid stem permits a reduction in its overall height and overall diameter, resulting in a reduction of the overall height of the pump sprayer. The cylinder has an extension in frictional engagement with the separate sleeve element of the main piston assembly for fixing the secondary cylinder thereto.

Precompression pump sprayer

A precompression pump sprayer comprises a hollow piston and a plunger rod having a discharge passage and a lower enlarged end forming a discharge valve seat, the rod extending through the piston for reciprocation between an inactive position and an end-of-stroke position, the piston engaging the valve seat in a discharge closed position, a primary spring biasing the plunger rod toward its inactive position, and a secondary spring biasing the piston into engagement with the discharge valve seat, the valve seat being of conical or curved shape, and the piston having a shoulder defining a discharge valve for solely contacting the valve seat along a thin circular line without sliding for quickly and cleanly valving the discharge passage open and closed during plunger actuation.

A ventless miniature pump sprayer comprises a reciprocable plunger head extending outwardly of an open end of a tubular member divided into an upper sleeve section and a lower container section for a liquid to be sprayed. A dip tube integral with the member extends into the container, and a pump cylinder and hollow inlet tube integral with tie member extend into the sleeve section. An integral shipper seal is molded in the inlet tube and a coaxial rod within a hollow piston on the plunger cooperates with the inlet tube for controlling the inlet and, during initial actuation of the plunger, pierces the shipper seal and has a groove or a rib thereon which establishes an air passage through which unwanted air from the pump chamber is ejected into the container to aid in pump priming.

A precompression pump sprayer having a stationary discharge is of compact construction while having separate springs for the plunger and valve member as well as pump priming and container venting features.

Pump sprayer with stationary discharge

A precompression pump sprayer has a stationary discharge and a reciprocable pump cylinder which squeezes the air out of the pump chamber to facilitate priming as the cylinder is plunged relative to a piston shifted by the plunger to open the discharge during priming. Once primed the piston is shifted to open the discharge upon a build up of pressure during plunger reciprocation. A container vent is controlled by operation of the plunger.

The pump comprises: a main cylinder (24); a main plunger (12) urged by a first spring (62) and extended by a hollow stem (10) and having a valve seat therein; a secondary cylinder (52) comprised within the main cylinder (24); a secondary plunger (64) urged by a second spring (70) having an upper extension (66) and being provided with a cavity (72) which is closed in the proximity of the end (68) engageable with the valve seat; while it is open at the lower end thereof, maintaining communication with the space (54).

Spray pump

A spray pump comprising a main cylinder and a secondary cylinder with a main piston and a secondary piston, first and second springs are provided for urging the pistons to particular positions. A fixed attachment between the main piston and the secondary cylinder and the latter forms a space with a closed bottom and an open upper end through which the interior of the main cylinder and the secondary cylinder are in communication.
