The present disclosure is related to pitch systems for blades of wind turbines. The pitch system comprises a pitch bearing having a first bearing ring connected to a hub of the wind turbine, and a second bearing ring connected to a blade. The pitch system also includes an annular gear and a pitch drive having a motor, a gearbox, a main brake, and a pinion. In addition, the pitch system includes an auxiliary brake system comprising an auxiliary brake and an auxiliary pinion to engage with the annular gear, where the auxiliary brake is configured to switch between an active state, wherein braking forces are applied to the annular gear to maintain the blade in an instantaneous position, and an inactive state. The present disclosure further relates to wind turbines comprising such pitch systems and methods for applying an emergency pitch braking torque to a pitch system.

Pitch systems for blades of wind turbines and associated methods

The present disclosure relates to wind turbines comprising a tower, a nacelle mounted on the tower, a wind turbine rotor with a plurality of blades, and a wind turbine generator operatively coupled with the wind turbine rotor. The wind turbine further comprise one or more auxiliary wind energy converters arranged with the nacelle. The present disclosure further relates to methods for providing power to an auxiliary system of a wind turbine.

Back-up power supply for wind turbines

Methods () for reducing vibrations in one or more rotor blades () of a wind turbine (), when the wind turbine is in standstill conditions are provided. The method comprises measuring () one or more deformation parameters indicative of deformation of one or more blades (), determining (), at a dedicated controller () for an auxiliary drive system (), a vibration of one or more of the blades () based on the deformation parameters, wherein the dedicated controller () for the auxiliary drive system is separate from the wind turbine controller (), and generating (), at the dedicated controller (), an output signal to operate the auxiliary drive system to reduce the vibration. Method for reducing vibrations in rotor blades of a wind turbine

Method of operating a wind turbine rotational system having a plurality of drives and a central control system (CCS), each drive having a motor and an electronic converter. The CCS sends speed and torque setpoints to the electronic converters, and the electronic converters drive the motors in accordance with said setpoints. The method comprises designating one of the drives as master drive and the other drives as slave drives. The method also comprises the CCS determining a master speed setpoint and a master torque setpoint, and sending said setpoints to the master drive. The method further comprises the CCS obtaining the real torque and speed of the motor of the master drive and sending a slave speed setpoint and a slave torque setpoint to each slave drive, said slave speed setpoint based on the master speed setpoint and said slave torque setpoint equal to the obtained real torque of the master drive.

Wind turbine rotational system

Wind turbine rotational system having several drives and a central control system (CCS), each drive comprising a motor, an electronic converter and an actuator. The CCS sends speed and torque setpoints to the electronic converters which drive the motors according to said setpoints. Operation of the system comprises: designating a drive as master and the other drives as slaves; designating, for each slave, one of the drives as reference drive; the CCS determining master speed and torque setpoints, and sending them to the master; the CCS obtaining real torque of the master; CCS obtaining real speed of each reference drive; and the CCS sending to each slave a slave speed setpoint equal to the master speed setpoint, and a slave torque setpoint equal to the real torque of the master plus a variable offset based on a difference between the master speed setpoint and the real speed of its reference drive.

In a first aspect, the present invention provides a blade pitch system for a wind turbine, comprising at least one multi winding motor comprising a main independent set of control windings and at least one auxiliary independent set of control windings; and at least a main independent power electronic converter for controlling the main independent set of control windings, and an auxiliary independent power electronic converter for controlling the auxiliary independent set of control windings.

Blade pitch system with a dual winding actuator

A wind turbine pitch drive system comprises an electric grid for supplying electrical power, a motor for driving a pitch actuator, an electronic converter for controlling the motor and a back-up energy storage unit for supplying electrical power. The electronic converter comprises a DC-link capacitor bank. The system furthermore comprises a switching device for selectively connecting the DC-capacitor bank link to the back-up energy storage unit, and a frequency generator for controlling the switching device. Also disclosed is a method for protecting a component of the electronic converter.
