The present invention is directed to methods, compositions and articles comprising olfactory-active compositions. An article of the present invention comprises a structural component and an olfactory-active composition. The article may control the release, release rate or absorption of the olfactory-active composition. The article may be of various shapes and sizes. A method of use of an article comprises providing fragrance to an environment.

Methods and devices for repelling insects are disclosed. The methods and devices provide personal protection from insect bites and insect landings, particularly mosquito bites. The methods and devices employ insect repellents such as pyrethroids at low (parts per billion) levels. The methods and devices effectively minimize the number of mosquitoes landing on a subject properly using the devices.

In one embodiment, the dispensing device is used in conjunction with an article of manufacture which contains one or more scents or aromatic materials. In such an embodiment, the dispensing device can include a housing and a removable, reusable/replayable, closed, multiple scent-containing article of manufacture which is removably inserted into or onto said housing.

Disclosed is a process for making reduced odor individualized, crosslinked fibers which includes the steps of providing cellulosic fibers, contacting the fibers with a solution containing a C.sub.2 -C.sub.9 polycarboxylic acid crosslinking agent, mechanically separating the fibers into substantially individual form, drying the fibers and reacting the crosslinking agent with the individualized fibers to form intrafiber crosslink bonds. The individualized cellulosic fibers are then contacted with a strong alkaline solution and strong oxidizing agent to reduce the odor and increase the brightness. Preferably, the crosslinking agent is citric acid, and preferably, between about 1.0 weight % and about 12.0 weight % of the crosslinking agent reacts to form the intrafiber crosslink bonds. Preferably, the alkaline solution is an aqueous solution of sodium hydroxide, and preferably, about 0.09 weight % of the sodium hydroxide, on a dry fiber weight basis, is applied to the crosslinked fibers. Preferably, the oxidizing agent is hydrogen peroxide, and preferably, about 0.04 weight % of the hydrogen peroxide, on a dry fiber weight basis, is applied to the crosslinked fiber. The reduced odor individualized, crosslinked fibers are useful in a variety of absorbent structure applications.

Process for preparing reduced odor and improved brightness

Solid absorbent materials, having adsorbed thereto from about 50 ppm to about 3000 ppm of a soluble salt of a transition metal of Group Ib or Group IIb of the periodic table of the elements, when used as animal litter products, effectively prevent the development of urine odors.

Animal litter composition

A rinse aid composition containing an organosilane and a low molecular weight monofunctional organic acid is capable of imparting soil release benefits to cooking utensils and tableware rinsed therewith. Food soils adhere to such surfaces less strongly, thereby making them easier to clean. The inclusion of the monofunctional organic acid insures that objectionable spotting or filming does not form on the rinsed objects.
