Layered nonwoven textile and method of forming the same

A nonwoven composite fabric including a first nonwoven layer composed substantially of meltblown fibers, the fibers within the first nonwoven layer having diameters that vary in accordance with a first distribution, a second nonwoven layer composed substantially of meltblown fibers, the fibers within the second nonwoven layer having diameters that vary in accordance with a second distribution, and a third nonwoven layer composed substantially of meltblown fibers, the third nonwoven layer disposed between the first and second nonwoven layers, the fibers within the third nonwoven layer having diameters that vary in accordance with a third distribution that is greater than the first and second distributions.

Multilayered nonwoven fabrics and method of making the same

An article having as a component a section of nonwoven web formed predominately of polymeric fibers is disclosed. The section of nonwoven web may have a pattern of consolidating bonds impressed on the surface. The bonds may have at least one bond shape; and the bond shape may have a perimeter with a greatest measurable length and greatest measurable width. The perimeter may have a convex portion and an aspect ratio of length/width of at least 2.5. Other features may be imparted relating to the density and orientations of the bonds relative machine and cross directions of the web. The bond shape reflects the shape of a corresponding bonding protrusion on a bonding roller. It is believed that the shape, density and/or orientation of the bonding protrusions affect air flow through the bonding nip in a way that may be utilized to enhance loft of the resulting bonded nonwoven web.

An article having as a component a nonwoven material, which includes a layer of spunbond fibers. The fibers of the nonwoven material are made of a composition that includes a first polyolefin, a second polyolefin that is a propylene copolymer and is different from the first polyolefin and a softness enhancer additive. The layer of fibers also includes a plurality of calendering bonds with an aspect ratio of at least 2.5.

A method of producing nonwoven textile by a spunmelt process of a polymer, the basis of which is at least one polyolefin, comprising a barrier and antistatic treatment, especially for protective garments for industry and health care. A polyolefin polymer which is suitable for forming fibers is mixed with a first additive capable of modifying a surface property and capable of migration through the polymer, then the mixture is used for producing at least one layer of the nonwoven textile by a spun-melt process, and prior to the termination of the migration of the first additive and to the stabilizing of the final barrier properties on the surface of the fibers a second additive is applied to the layer, the second additive being capable of modifying the antistatic property of the material, and then the nonwoven textile is exposed to a temperature and relative humidity conditions for a time period such that the first additive migrates towards the surface and the second additive undergoes changes on said surface.
