An electronic device may include a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film formed over an array of pixels. The lenticular lenses may be configured to enable stereoscopic viewing of the display such that a viewer perceives three-dimensional images. Display pipeline circuitry for the lenticular display may implement crosstalk correction. Crosstalk correction may be performed before pixel mapping using stored crosstalk calibration profiles, crosstalk correction may be performed by ray tracing multiple beams per pixel, and/or crosstalk correction may be performed after pixel mapping using a kernel lookup table.

Crosstalk correction in displays

In one implementation, a method of operating a lenticular display is performed by a device including a processor, non-transitory memory, and a lenticular display. The method includes capturing, from a first camera location in a physical environment, a first image of a user. The method includes capturing, from a second camera location in the physical environment, a second image of the user. The method includes transforming the first image and the second image by horizontally flipping the first image and the second image. The method includes displaying, on the lenticular display, the transformed first image at a display angle corresponding to a first eye location of the user and the transformed second image at a display angle corresponding to a second eye location of the user.

Emulating a mirror with a lenticular display

Providing a visual treatment based on proximity to an obstruction includes collecting, by a device, a sensor data for an environment, and determining a velocity of the device. A boundary of a volume around the device is determined based on the velocity. If a physical object is detected within the boundary based on the sensor data, then a notification procedure is initiated. The boundary of the volume dynamically changes as the velocity of the device or user changes.

An electronic device may include a stereoscopic display with a plurality of lenticular lenses that extend across the length of the display. The lenticular lenses may be configured to enable stereoscopic viewing of the display such that a viewer perceives three-dimensional images. The display may have different viewing zones that account for horizontal parallax as a viewer moves horizontally relative to the display. The display may be dimmed globally, blurred, and/or composited with a default image based on the detected vertical position of the viewer. The display may render content that compensates for the real-time vertical positions of multiple viewers.

An electronic device may include a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film formed over an array of pixels. The display may include ray tracing circuitry that is configured to, using ray tracing, a three-dimensional image, and deflection measurements for the array of pixels, output a display calibration map that includes, for each pixel in the array of pixels, a corresponding location on a two-dimensional image. The display may also include pixel mapping circuitry configured to, using the display calibration map from the ray tracing circuitry, map the two-dimensional image to respective pixels on the array of pixels to obtain pixel data for the array of pixels.

Ray tracing in a display

A method is performed at an electronic device with one or more processors, a non-transitory memory, one or more environmental sensors, and a display. The method includes determining a first positional value associated with a physical agent based on environmental data from the one or more environmental sensors. The method includes determining that a portion of computer-generated content satisfies an occlusion criterion with respect to a corresponding portion of the physical agent, based on the first positional value. The method includes, in response to determining that the occlusion criterion is satisfied and determining that the physical agent satisfies a movement criterion or a pose criterion, generating a mesh associated with the physical agent based on the first positional value, and displaying the mesh on the display.

Indicating a position of an occluded physical object

In some implementations, a method is performed at an electronic device including one or more processors, a non-transitory memory, a rendering system, and a display. The method includes determining a first rendering characteristic based on a first viewing angle of a first individual with respect to the display. The method includes determining a second rendering characteristic based on a second viewing angle of a second individual with respect to the display. The first rendering characteristic is different from the second rendering characteristic. The method includes generating, via the rendering system, first display content data according to the first rendering characteristic, and generating, via the rendering system, second display content data according to the second rendering characteristic. The first display content data is associated with the first viewing angle. The second display content data is associated with the second viewing angle.

Generating and displaying content based on respective positions of individuals

This application relates to a client-server architecture that enables progress tracking related to assignments generated by an instructor. A hand-out can include attachments that specify placeholders for hand-ins and/or activities to be performed by the student as part of the assignment. Some activities can be performed using third-party applications that implement at least a portion of a software framework that causes the applications to generate progress tracking information provided to a daemon executing in the background of a client device. The daemon and/or a client application interface with one or more network services to enable an instructor to utilize the progress tracking information. The network services can include a hand-out service utilized to generate hand-outs assigned to a group of students. The network services can also include a progress pipeline including a number of services configured to process progress tracking information received from a plurality of client devices.

Various implementations disclosed herein include devices, systems, and methods for displaying image data based on ambient light. In some implementations, a device includes an image sensor, an environmental sensor, a display, a non-transitory memory and one or more processors. In some implementations, a method includes capturing, via the image sensor, first image data that corresponds to a body part of a user of the device. In some implementations, the method includes detecting, via the environmental sensor, environmental data that indicates a current ambient light condition of a physical environment surrounding the device. In some implementations, the method includes generating second image data by modifying the first image data based on a function of the current ambient light condition and a threshold ambient light condition detected during enrollment. In some implementations, the method includes displaying the second image data on the display.

Displaying image data based on ambient light

An electronic device may include a lenticular display. The lenticular display may have a lenticular lens film formed over an array of pixels. The display may have a number of independently controllable viewing zones. Each viewing zone displays a respective two-dimensional image. Each eye of the viewer may receive a different one of the two-dimensional images, resulting in a perceived three-dimensional image. The electronic device may include display pipeline circuitry that generates and processes content to be displayed on the lenticular display. Content generating circuitry may initially generate content that includes a plurality of two-dimensional images, each two-dimensional image corresponding to a respective viewing zone. The two-dimensional images may be processed by per-view processing circuitry. Pixel mapping circuitry may be used to map the two-dimensional images to the array of pixels in the lenticular display. After pixel mapping, additional panel-level processing may be performed.

Content processing in a display pipeline

A method is performed at an electronic device with one or more processors, a non-transitory memory, one or more environmental sensors, and a display. The method includes displaying computer-generated content on the display. The method includes determining a first positional value associated with a physical object, based on environmental data from the one or more environmental sensors. The method includes identifying a portion of the computer-generated content that satisfies an occlusion criterion with respect to a corresponding portion of the physical object, based on the first positional value. The method includes, in response to identifying that the occlusion criterion is satisfied, generating a mesh associated with the physical object based on the first positional value, and displaying the mesh on the display. The mesh overlaps with the portion of the computer-generated content.

This application relates to a client-server architecture that enables file sharing between an instructor and a class. The files are stored in a storage service accessible via a network, and a separate copy of each file can be shared with each student in the class. In order to facilitate the sharing of multiple copies of the file, a share pool is created in a partition of the storage service allocated to the instructor. The share pool includes a number of stub files that are placeholders for clones of the shared file. A share handler service receives a request to share a file with a class, requests a number of stub files from the share pool, and utilizes the number of stub files to generate clones of the shared file in the partition of the storage service. Students are then granted access to the clones in the partition.
