An improved oxygen analyzer includes a controller configured to receive an oxygen sensor signal and provide an oxygen concentration output. A probe is configured to extend into a source of combustion process gas. An oxygen sensor is disposed within the probe and has a sensing electrode mounted to one side of a solid electrolyte and a reference electrode mounted to an opposite side of the solid electrolyte. The oxygen sensor has catalytic beads that are configured to be disposed between the process gas and the sensing electrode. Measurement circuitry is operably coupled to the oxygen sensor and the controller and is configured to provide the controller with the oxygen sensor signal based on an electrical response of the oxygen sensor. The controller is configured to detect a behavior of the oxygen sensor concentration output over time to provide at least one ancillary output.

A process oxygen analyzer includes a process probe extendible into a flow of process combustion exhaust, the process probe having an oxygen sensor measurement cell. Measurement circuitry is coupled to the oxygen sensor measurement cell and configured to obtain a non-corrected indication of oxygen concentration relative to a combustion process based on an electrical characteristic of the oxygen sensor measurement cell. A controller is operably coupled to the measurement circuitry and is configured to obtain an indication of process pressure and selectively provide a corrected oxygen concentration output based on non-corrected indication of oxygen concentration and the indication of process pressure. A method of providing a process oxygen concentration using a process oxygen analyzer coupled to an industrial combustion process is also disclosed.

Oxygen analyzer with pressure compensation

A combustion analyzer configured to simultaneously detect the concentrations of oxygen, carbon monoxide and methane in a combustion process is provided. The combustion analyzer includes an oxygen sensor configured to detect the oxygen in the combustion process and generate a first sensor signal indicative of the concentration of oxygen in the combustion process. The combustion analyzer further includes a dual carbon monoxide-methane sensor configured to operate at approximately 600&#xb0; C. and provide a second sensor signal indicative of methane concentration and at approximately 300&#xb0; C. to selectively provide a third sensor signal indicative of carbon monoxide concentration. The combustion analyzer finally includes a controller configured to receive the sensor signals, determine the concentration of oxygen and generate a carbon monoxide concentration output and a methane concentration output based on the dual carbon monoxide-methane sensor signals and the concentration of oxygen.

Combustion analyzer with dual carbon monoxide and methane measurements

A combustion analyzer configured to simultaneously detect the concentrations of oxygen, carbon monoxide and methane in a combustion process is provided. The combustion analyzer includes an oxygen sensor configured to detect the oxygen in the combustion process and generate a sensor signal indicative of the concentration of oxygen in the combustion process. The combustion analyzer further includes a dual carbon monoxide-methane sensor configured to operate at approximately 400&#xb0; C. and provide a second sensor signal indicative of methane concentration and at approximately 300&#xb0; C. to selectively provide a third sensor signal indicative of carbon monoxide concentration. The combustion analyzer finally includes a controller configured to receive the sensor signals, determine the concentration of oxygen, and generate a carbon monoxide concentration output and methane concentration output based on the dual carbon monoxide-methane sensor signals and the concentration of oxygen.

Combustion analyzer with simultaneous carbon monoxide and methane measurements

A process analytic instrument includes a measurement cell and an analyzer circuit. The measurement cell includes a solid state electrochemical oxygen sensor configured for exposure to a process gas. The analyzer circuit is coupled to the solid state electrochemical sensor to measure an electrical parameter of the solid state electrochemical sensor and provide an output indicative of oxygen in the process gas. A DC bias circuit is configured to selectably bias the solid state electrochemical oxygen sensor with a direct current when the solid state electrochemical sensor is in a reducing environment.

Sulfur resistant sensors and a process analytic system employing such sensors are provided. The sensors generally include a treatment or material that is adapted to increase the resistance of certain portions of the sensors to exposure to sulfur. In one aspect, an improved sulfur-resistant process analytic system includes a probe with one or more sulfur-resistant sensors therein coupled to a controller, a thermal control module, and a source of blowback gas.

New solid state pH and sodium ion sensitive metal-oxide-type compositions, sensors and methods are disclosed. Performance thereof was demonstrated at ambient temperature with single crystals of several molybdenum bronzes (i.e. Na.sub.0.9 Mo.sub.6 O.sub.17, Li.sub.0.9 Mo.sub.6 O.sub.17, Li.sub.0.33 MoO.sub.3 and K.sub.0.3 MoO.sub.3) The pH sensors with Na-molybdenum-oxide bronzes show near ideal Nernstian behavior in the pH range 3-9. The response is not affected by the direction of the pH change.

A humidity sensing device comprising a solid electrolyte evidencing proton conductivity includes HZr.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 or a composite comprising HZr.sub.2 P.sub.3 O.sub.12 /ZrP.sub.2 O.sub.7. The humidity sensing device is operative over a temperature range from 25.degree. C.-600.degree. C. The humidity sensor is operated by an impedance-type cell.
