A combined cellular/GNSS (global navigation satellite systems) antenna is provided. The combined cellular/GNSS antenna comprises an external area and an internal area delineated by a circumference of a circle. The combined cellular GNSS antenna further comprises a cellular antenna and a GNSS antenna. The cellular antenna comprises a set of cellular radiators disposed in the external area and connected to a cellular feeding network for excitation of the set of cellular radiators. The GNSS antenna comprises radiation elements disposed in the internal area and has a center located substantially at a center of the circle.

Compact combined cellular/GNSS antenna with low mutual coupling

Patch antenna with wire radiation elements for high-precision GNSS applications

A GNSS compact antenna comprising a conducting ground plane and a driven element for exciting right hand circularly polarized waves having a multi-segment structure such that the area around the driven element is divided into elementary cells with conductors and circuit elements arranged therein. The antenna includes a set of circuit elements connecting the neighboring elementary cells and the driven element. Each elementary cell has a horizontal conductor over the ground plane, and each elementary cell can have a vertical conductor and a circuit element connecting the horizontal and vertical conductors. The horizontal conductor comprises a set of characteristic points to which circuit elements, connecting neighboring elementary cells or any elementary cell and the driven element, are connected. Both the impedance of each circuit elements and the design of each elementary cell can be different, but the antenna has four-fold rotational symmetry relative to the vertical axis.

Compact antenna having three-dimensional multi-segment structure

An antenna system includes an electromagnetic radiator assembled on a ground plane. The ground plane containing a nontransparent area in a center of the ground plane and a semitransparent area surrounding the nontransparent area. The nontransparent area is circular in shape. The semitransparent area is generally circular in shape and contains at least one slot. A plurality of vertical conducting elements are in proximity of a boundary between the nontransparent area and the semitransparent area on a bottom side of the ground plane. The vertical conducting elements are arranged in a circle around a center of the electromagnetic radiator.

GNSS base station antenna system with reduced sensitivity to reflections from nearby objects

An antenna assembly includes a GNSS stacked patch antenna located in a metal cavity and a matching parasitic element, the matching parasitic element includes a set of conductors not connected to the antenna. Each conductor has an external end and internal end, the external ends being conductively coupled to the housing of the cavity. The conductors of the matching parasitic elements can be radially arranged. External ends of conductors are additionally connected to each other by a ring-shaped conductor. Internal ends of conductors can be connected to capacitive elements, which can be discrete capacitors and/or segments of conductors.

Embedded antenna device for GNSS applications

Disclosed is a dual-band Global Navigation Satellite System antenna with a hollow core. The antenna includes a conductive cylindrical tube with a longitudinal axis. A ground plane, a low-frequency radiator, and a high-frequency radiator are annuli orthogonal to the longitudinal axis. The inner peripheries of the ground plane and the low-frequency radiator are electrically connected to the outer surface of the cylindrical tube. The outer periphery of the high-frequency radiator is electrically connected to the low-frequency radiator. A vertical low-frequency radiating gap is configured between the ground plane and the outer periphery of the low-frequency radiator. A horizontal high-frequency radiating gap is configured between the inner periphery of the high-frequency radiator and the outer surface of the cylindrical tube. In an embodiment, the inner diameter of the cylindrical tube has a value from about 27 mm to about 102 mm, permitting insertion of a post or pole.

Global navigation satellite system antenna with a hollow core

Disclosed is a micropatch antenna comprising a radiating element and a ground plane separated by an air gap. Small size, light weight, wide bandwidth, and wide directional pattern are achieved without the introduction of a high-permittivity dielectric substrate. Capacitive elements are configured along the perimeter of at least one of the radiating element and ground plane. Capacitive elements may comprise extended continuous structures or a series of localized structures. The geometry of the radiating element, ground plane, and capacitive elements may be varied to suit specific applications, such as linearly-polarized or circularly-polarized electromagnetic radiation.

Patch antenna with capacitive elements

A patch antenna system with improved multipath resistance includes a top antenna assembly and a bottom antenna assembly. Each antenna assembly includes a radiator patch and a ground plane separated by a dielectric medium. The radiator patch on the top antenna assembly is excited by an exciter and an excitation circuit. The bottom antenna assembly is electromagnetically coupled to the top antenna assembly. The resonant frequency of the bottom antenna assembly is approximately equal to the resonant frequency of the top antenna assembly. Electromagnetic fields induced in the bottom antenna assembly are in opposite phase to the electromagnetic fields excited in the top antenna assembly. Amplitudes of electromagnetic fields induced in the bottom antenna assembly are subtracted from amplitudes of electromagnetic fields excited in the top antenna assembly, and multipath signals are suppressed. Single band and dual band antenna systems suitable for global navigation satellite systems can be implemented.

Compact multipath-resistant antenna system with integrated navigation receiver

A patch antenna having a plurality of structures, referred to herein as comb structures, is disclosed that results in an antenna having a reduced overall patch size and weight as well as a broader the angular response pattern of the antenna. In a first embodiment, comb structures are attached to one of the surface of the patch or the surface of the ground plane. In a second embodiment, the comb structures are attached to both the patch and the ground plane in a manner such that the structures interleave with each other. The structures may be pins or ribs that are electrically connected to the ground plane and/or the patch, or may be any other suitable configuration depending upon the polarization of the signal to be transmitted or received.
