An improved catheter atherector for shaving, cutting, and emulsifying accumulated plaque into fine particles, and removing the particles from blood vessel walls without cutting or permanently stretching the walls, and without substantially blocking the blood flow through the vessel during plaque removal operation. The catheter atherector includes an emulsification reduction sphere and extraction wire that rotate and move axially inside the vessel to engage the occlusive material. Emulsified occlusive reduced plaque material and blood only flow in a proximal direction into a catheter lumen. The operation of the device does not substantially disrupt blood pressure within the blood vessel.

Catheter atherector

A surgical clip applier with a disposable surgical cartridge assembly and a non-disposable handle with a trigger for controlling the placement of surgical clips from the surgical cartridge assembly. The trigger moves an internal cinch to open surgical jaws to consecutively receive and hold surgical clips from a internal linear array of clips. Further movement of the trigger on handle moves the internal cinch to close the jaws and the surgical clip contained within over the ligation site.

Surgical clip applier

A system for axial positioning of a rotating shaft is provided herein. The system includes a first wheel. The system also includes a second wheel positioned adjacent to the first wheel such that the first wheel and second wheel are configured to rotate in opposite directions. The second wheel is also positioned such that first wheel and second wheel are configured to exert axial force tangential to the first wheel and the second wheel to a shaft positioned between the first wheel and the second wheel. Each of the first wheel and the second wheel each comprise a plurality of rollers positioned tangentially along a circumference of the first wheel and the second wheel.

An improved plaque extractor for shaving, scooping, cutting, and emulsifying accumulated plaque from blood vessels into fine particles, and removing the particles from blood vessel walls without cutting or permanently stretching the walls, and without substantially blocking the blood flow through the vessel during plaque removal operation. The plaque extractor includes an extractor guide and an internal auger, in which both are rotating and moving axially inside the vessel to engage the occlusive material. The operation of the device does not substantially disrupt blood pressure within the blood vessel.

A surgical clip for a clip applier to ligate vessels. The clip contains two opposing legs connected in parallel by an apex to form a U-shape. Each leg has an outer surface with a half-round cross-sectional configuration for minimizing tissue damage by preventing clip scissoring during ligation. Each leg has an inner surface with a flat central surface, two concave grooves on opposing sides of the central surface, and two convex ridges on opposing sides of each groove. As a vessel is ligated, vessel tissue moves into the concave grooves while remaining frictionally engaged by the compressive forces applied by the central surfaces and convex ridges of leg so that the clip does not move on the vessel. The edges of the grooves and the edges of the ridges of each leg are rounded to prevent any cutting of the ligated vessel.

Surgical clip for laparoscopic procedures

A long articulating steerable clip applier affixed to a user-operated handle. A surgical jaw assembly is attached to the other end of the clip applier. The clip applier is composed of articulating phalanges that are connected end to end by pivoting links and capable of angulations relative to one another when subjected to a tensile force. Each phalange has opposing s-shaped exterior grooves that form two continuous spiral-shaped channels for holding tension wires once the phalanges are assembled. Multiple tension wires are attached to opposite ends of adjacent phalanges. When each wire is pulled, this tensile force causes the phalanges to pivot at equivalent angles with each other. As each individual phalange pivots by an equivalent angle, the sum of these angles causes the free end of the clip applier to pivot by a large angle or a cascading actuation effect.

Articulating steerable clip applier for laparoscopic procedures

An actuator is movable between a first position and a second position to move a drive mechanism between a first configuration and a second configuration relative to a housing. A cartridge assembly configured to be removably coupled to the housing to couple such that the cartridge assembly is coupled to the drive mechanism. A first member of the drive mechanism moves a first member of the cartridge assembly to advance a surgical clip of the cartridge assembly in a distal direction when the drive mechanism is placed in the first configuration. A second member of the drive mechanism moves a second member of the cartridge assembly relative to the clamp mechanism when the drive mechanism is placed in the second configuration to transition the clamp mechanism from a first configuration to a second configuration. The clamp mechanism is configured to clamp the surgical clip when in the second configuration.

This invention relates to an injection needle with a multi-surface penetration end which stretches soft tissue with minimal cutting upon insertion. This stretching reduces patient discomfort, the force required for urging needle into the soft tissue, and soft tissue coring. The structure of the multi-surface needle decreases the penetration footprint of the needle into the soft tissue around the needle penetration site, reducing tissue inflammation and increasing healing time. The needle also contains dual injection openings on opposing sides, behind the penetration end to discharge injected fluid over a wider area with lower pressure.

Injection needle for preventing tissue coring

This invention provides hermetically-sealed handle assembly with a rotating trigger for use with disposable components, such as surgical clip appliers. The rotating trigger reduces the gripping force necessary to fully control the internal actuator mechanism to operate a disposable surgical clip applier to fully ligate a vessel or other tissue. The hermetic seal on the handle assembly prevents any patient fluids and other bioburden from entering the internal structures. This reduces the possibility of cross-contamination and the costs of sterilization.

Hermetic rotating handle assembly for a surgical clip applier for laparoscopic procedures

The ligation clip includes opposing legs connected at a connection point at which the clip pivots to the clamped position on a vessel. The entire clip has a completely semi-circular outside surface. The inside vessel engaging surfaces of the legs of the clip have a unique vessel retaining system that includes a plurality of rounded protrusions alternating with rounded depressions. The retaining system is positioned 'within' the inside vessel engaging surfaces of the legs such that a flat surface remains adjacent to our around the retaining system. In addition, there are no sharp edges associated with the ligation clip. All transition points between the outer and inner surfaces of the clip are rounded to prevent any sharp edges.
