An obscuration cloud generation device () is disclosed. It may comprise a container () for holding an obscuration cloud generating canister (), wherein a composition for forming the obscuration cloud is emitted from the obscuration cloud generating canister () in response to activating the obscuration cloud generating canister (). It may further comprise a housing () having a frame () wherein the container () is removably held inside the frame (). The housing () has an opening () and a door (), the door () being movable between a closed state for covering the opening () and an open state for emission of the composition from the device () via the opening (). The opening () is shaped and sized to allow the container () to be extracted from the housing () through the opening () when the door () is open to replace the obscuration cloud generating canister ().

An obscuration cloud generation device () comprises a housing () having a door () and a frame () sized and shaped to accommodate an obscuration cloud generating canister () when the door () is in a closed state. Activation of the canister () emits a composition for forming the cloud. The door () has an operably open state in which the door () is open at least a predefined minimum extent for exiting of the emitted composition. A door checking system () applies a force for opening the door () and generates an indication of whether the door () is open at least to the minimum extent. A controller () is adapted to instruct the checking system () to apply the force and to receive the indication to determine, before activating the canister (), that the door () is not blocked from reaching the operably open state.
