A radiofrequency assembly includes a module with an antenna assembly formed in a semiconductor integrated circuit. The semiconductor integrated circuit can carry out at least one of the following functions: transmitting an electromagnetic signal, and receiving an electromagnetic signal. The radiofrequency assembly further includes a horn-like structure with a base portion adapted to fit on the module. The horn-like structure has an extending horn-shaped portion an input opening that encloses the antenna assembly when the horn-like structure is fitted on the module.

A radio frequency module comprises an antenna assembly on a semiconductor integrated circuit that can transmit an electromagnetic signal in a frequency band of interest, or receive an electromagnetic signal in a frequency band of interest, or both. In the radio frequency module, a conductive layer that forms a signal ground plane. At least one semiconductor layer of the semiconductor integrated circuit forms part of this dielectric spacing. The dielectric spacing is arranged so that an electromagnetic signal in the frequency band of interest that traverses through the dielectric spacing from the antenna assembly to the conductive layer that forms the signal ground plane experiences a phase shift comprised in the range between 60 and 120 degrees.

Radiofrequency module

A system comprises a plurality of object detection modules (SC, SC). An object detection module detects an object from a radiation in a particular wavelength range. The system is operable to cause an object detection module (SC) to operate in a probing master mode (PMM). In this mode, the object detection module (SC) produces a probing radiation (PR) in the particular wavelength range. Another object detection module (SC) is caused to operate in a probing slave mode (PSM). In this mode, the other object detection module (SC) provides an acknowledgment (ACK) in response to receiving the probing radiation (PR).

In a lighting system (SLS), a radar arrangement (RU) transmits a signal (CW). The radar arrangement (RU) detects a spectral power distribution of a received signal (RF) susceptible of comprising a reflection of the signal that has been transmitted. Lighting is controlled as a function of the spectral power distribution that has been detected.

The present invention relates to a transmission apparatus having at least two transmission branches for transmitting respective transmission signals at substantially same frequencies, and to a method of controlling such a transmission apparatus. A first oscillator circuit () is provided for generating a first signal at a first frequency to be used in a first transmission branch. Additionally, a second oscillator circuit () is provided for generating a second signal at a second frequency to be used in a second transmission branch, the second frequency being different from the first frequency. To enable transmission of the transmission signals at said substantially same frequencies, at least one frequency divider or multiplier () is provided for dividing or respectively multiplying at least one of said first and second frequencies by a respective predetermined factor. Thereby, the first and second oscillator circuits can be operated at different frequencies, so that mutual coupling can be reduced.

A distance measurement arrangement provides a distance indication based on a delay between an electromagnetic signal, transmitted in a transmission mode, and a reflection of the electromagnetic signal, received in a reception mode. The distance measurement arrangement includes an antenna module having a plurality of antennas for transmitting the electromagnetic signal and for receiving the reflection. A beam-forming module defines respective magnitude and phase relationships with respect to respective antennas so as to cause the antenna module to provide a directional antenna pattern in at least one the two modes. A beam-forming and steering control module controls the respective magnitude and phase relationships as a function of a direction command. A 3-D picture can be formed by applying respective direction commands so as to obtain respective distance indications for respective portion in a two-dimensional picture.

Distance measurement

By the present invention a calibration and/or correction of transmit signals in a communication system using Frequency Division Duplex has been disclosed, in particular a method of calibration of a transmit signal to be transmitted in a device simultaneously receiving and transmitting signals in the communication system, wherein the transmit signal and the receive signal are separated by a predetermined frequency band gap. A down-conversion of the transmit signal received in the receiving path to an intermediate frequency is performed, whereby the intermediate frequency corresponds to the frequency band gap reduced by the intermediate frequency of the receive signal. A correction signal is derived from the intermediate received transmit signal and used to calibrate the transmit signal such that non-linearity effects caused by power amplifiers in the transmit path are effectively reduced. The present invention provides the advantages of an improved and simplified architecture and simultaneously of a clearly improved quality of transmit signals.

Calibration of transmit signals in FDD-transceivers

A system and method for generating for efficiently obtaining a desired harmonic from a fundamental frequency the prior art is needed. The system and method of the present invention produces a desired harmonic by employing techniques using gain stages (or limiter/comparator circuits) in combination with pre-defined offset voltages (or currents). The output signals of the gain stages are added with the correct phase to generate the desired harmonic.

An output signal is generated for transmission in a telecommunications systems. This may involve generating an in-phase radio frequency signal by mixing an in-phase baseband signal with a first radio frequency mixer signal; and generating an alternative-phase radio frequency signal by mixing an alternative-phase baseband signal with a second radio frequency mixer signal. An output signal for transmission is generated by combining the in-phase radio frequency signal with the alternative-phase radio frequency signal, wherein the output signal has a frequency, f. The first and second radio frequency mixer signals are generated by generating a voltage controlled oscillator (VCO) output signal having a frequency, f, such that wherein n=1, 2, 3, . . . ; and generating one or more fractional frequency divided signals from the VCO output signal, wherein each of the one or more fractional frequency divided signals has a frequency equal to f.
