The present invention relates to the field of veterinary vaccines, in particular to porcine vaccines against PCV2 and associated diseases. Specifically the invention relates to the finding that a mutation is required in PCV2b ORF2 protein, to prevent its nuclear accumulation upon expression in insect cells; the mutation introduces a Proline at amino acid position 131. This allows efficient expression in insect cells, easy harvesting, and generates large amounts of virus-like particles. The VLPs are highly effective in vaccines for porcines for reduction of infection by PCV2 or of associated signs of disease.

The present invention relates to the field of veterinary vaccines, in particular to that of vector vaccines for poultry based on recombinant nonpathogenic Marek's disease virus (npMDV). The recombinant npMDV of the invention expresses stably and effectively two heterologous genes each originating from a different micro-organism: the fusion protein gene from Newcastle disease virus, and the viral protein 2 gene from infectious bursal disease virus. A vaccine based on this recombinant npMDV can be used to induce in poultry a protective immune response not only against Marek's disease, but also against Newcastle disease and Infectious bursal disease. The invention also relates to methods and uses involving the recombinant npMDV, expression cassette, infected host cells, and vaccines.

Recombinant nonpathogenic MDV vector providing multivalent immunity

The present application applies to the field of veterinary vaccines, in particular of vaccines for poultry against avian influenza. The vaccine is based on a recombinant viral vector expressing the haemagglutinin protein of an influenza virus, wherein the vector is herpes virus of turkeys (HVT) and the haemagglutinin gene is driven by a glycoprotein B gene promoter from a mammalian herpesvirus. A vaccine comprising this HVT+HA vector can be used to induce a protective immune response against avian influenza in poultry, and to reduce the spread of AIV. The present invention relates to novel Equine herpesvirus (EHV) mutants comprising one or more deletions, substitutions, or insertions in the endogenous promoter region of an essential viral gene, preferably the immediate early gene of EHV. The EHV mutants are stable and have reduced virulence, which makes them very suitable for use in a live vaccine. The invention furthermore relates to live vaccines comprising said EHV mutants, to DNA sequences and vectors harbouring a mutated EHV sequence, to host cells transfected with said DNA or vectors.
