A mechanical connector for high and low voltages has a first connector part with a first end having a cavity; a second connector part with a first end having a cross section adapted to the cavity of the first connector part, wherein the inner dimensions of the cavity correspond with the outer dimensions of the cross section to provide a slide fit and an electrical connection between the outer circumference of the cross section and the inner circumference of the cavity; and a thermal conductive, electrically insulating layer is arranged between and in contact with the end face of the second connector part and the bottom of the cavity of the first connector part. A circuit breaker may have such a mechanical connector incorporated in the fixed electrode rod.

A medium voltage connection has: a first conductor and a second conductor electrically attached to each other; a first isolating layer arranged around the first conductor and a second isolating layer arranged around the second conductor, leaving an air gap between both isolating layers; an isolating rubber sleeve arranged between the first isolating layer and the second isolating layer to fill the air gap between the two isolating layers. A conducting layer is arranged on the first isolating layer and the rubber sleeve is provided with a conducting portion, which overlaps with the conducting layer.

A conductor system for use in a surrounding dielectric has a first member with a first conductive surface having a first edge and arranged to be in contact with the surrounding dielectric; a second member arranged such that there is a gap between the first member and the second member at the first edge; and a protector arranged to be partially held in the gap by elastic forces in the protector and having a conductive protector surface arranged to be pressed against the first edge by the elastic forces and arranged to protrude out of the gap on the side of the first member.
