Thermoset compositions and methods for forming three-dimensional articles via an additive fabrication process, and articles made therefrom are disclosed herein. In an embodiment, a composition comprises a first network-forming component comprising a TPA-based polyester comprising a backbone and having at least 2 polymerizable groups, one or more first network monomers, and a first network initiator. The backbone of the TPA-based polyester comprises the reaction product of a terephthalic acid and a polyol. The composition may further comprise a second network-forming component.

Described and claimed herein are radiation curable compositions for coating an optical fiber, particularly primary coating compositions, wherein the composition possesses specified liquid glass transition temperatures, and/or viscosity ratios between, e.g., 25° C. and 85° C. Such compositions possess preferably high amounts of a reactive oligomer component with a backbone not derived from polypropylene glycol, preferably reactive oligomers with select diisocyanate constituents, one or more reactive diluent monomers, a photoinitiator, and optionally, one or more additives. Such compositions also are preferably sufficiently viscous at room temperature to ensure optimum optical fiber coating processability. Also described are methods of coating the radiation curable compositions elsewhere described, and the fiber optic coatings resulting therefrom.

The invention relates to a radiation curable resin composition comprising a cationically polymerizable component, a cationic photoinitiator, a hydroxy component, an impact modifier and wherein the resin composition after full cure has a modulus of &#x3e;2 GPa; a yield stress &#x3c;70 MPa; and a Kvalue &#x3e;1.3 MPa&#xb7;(m)or an Izod value &#x3e;0.45 J/cm. The resin composition can preferably be used in the preparation of three dimensional objects.

Radiation curable resin composition and rapid three-dimensional imaging process using the same

The invention relates to a process for producing gel-spun ultra high molecular weight polyethylene (UHMWPE) fibres having high tensile strengths and improved creep rates wherein the UHMWPE used in said process is characterized by a difference in the phase angle according to Formula (1) &#x394;&#x3b4;=&#x3b4;&#x2212;&#x3b4;of at most 42&#xb0;, wherein &#x3b4;is the phase angle at an angular frequency of 0.001 rad/sec; and &#x3b4;is the phase angle at an angular frequency of 100 rad/sec as measured with a frequency sweep dynamic rheological technique at 150&#xb0; C. on a 10% solution of UHMWPE in paraffin oil, provided that &#x3b4;is at most 18&#xb0;. The invention further relates to gel-spun UHMWPE fibres produced thereof. The gel-spun UHMWPE fibres of the invention have a tensile strength of at least 4 GPa, and a creep rate of at most 5&#xd7;10secas measured at 70&#xb0; C. under a load of 600 MPa. The gel-spun UHMWPE fibres produced thereof are useful in a variety of applications, the invention relating in particular to ropes, medical devices, composite articles and ballistic-resistant articles containing said UHMWPE fibres.
