A method of establishing a time interval between maintenance actions expressed in pages for a printing device, includes determining the number of pages of an incoming print job, comparing the determined number of pages to a predetermined time interval between the maintenance actions expressed in pages, changing the predetermined time interval into at least one new time interval between the maintenance actions expressed in pages based on the comparison, printing the incoming print job, and carrying out at least one maintenance action after the start of printing of the incoming print job according to the at least one new time interval. A printing device includes a print unit and a print controller for planning maintenance actions on the print unit according to the method.

A magnet knife assembly for a toner developing device including a ferromagnetic strip held between like poles (N) of two permanent magnets such that a knife edge portion of the strip projects outwardly beyond the two magnets and is subject to a magnet force that tends to urge the strip in a direction in which the knife edge projects further out of the magnets, wherein the length of the strip is selected such that a portion of the strip opposite to the knife edge is subject to a magnetic force that at least counterbalances said magnetic force on the knife edge portion.

An exposure device for a non-impact printing apparatus which includes a plurality of light-emitting elements for forming images, a driver element for individually applying energy output levels to the light-emitting elements, lens for focusing the light emitted by the light-emitting elements, storage ability for storing a list of setting values for setting the energy output levels, wherein the list includes a plurality of series of setting values, each one of the series enabling to attribute at least one setting value to each one of the light-emitting elements, each one of the series being selectable as a function of an exposure device condition. A method is also provided for adjusting a non-impact printing apparatus which includes the step of selecting the most adequate series of setting values on the basis of an analysis of the optical density of printed images on a receiving medium.
