Injection of COmay be controlled and optimized, and COplume leaks monitored in real time, using a controlled sleeve system deployed into a well, where the controlled sleeve system comprises a predetermined set of ports extending from an outer surface of a substantially tubular housing through to an inner annulus of the housing and one or more selectively actuated sliding sleeves configured to selectively open, occlude, and close the predetermined set of ports. One or more sensors configured to be deployed in the well may be present. A wireless remotely actuated flow controller disposed at least partially within the housing and operatively in communication with the sensor comprises a sleeve actuator controller operatively connected to the selectively actuated sliding sleeve and a sensor data acquisition module operatively in communication with the sensor. A communications module is operatively in communication with the wireless remote actuated flow controller. Power may be supplied via a power supply operatively in communication with the wireless remote actuated flow controller, the communications module, and the sensor. The controlled sleeve system is placed into communication with a surface control system disposed proximate a surface location of the well and COinjected into a geological formation of the well, at least partially through the controlled sleeve system. The surface system is used to selectively actuate the selectively actuated sleeve to selectively choke, occlude, and permit the flow of CO.

System to control and optimize the injection of CO2 and real time monitoring of CO2 plume leaks

A system that can be deployed through production tubing in existing wells aid in eliminating the necessity to remove tubing from the well to install a gauge on the outside the production tubing or as part of the tubing string. The system comprises a hybrid tool which comprises a gauge system capable of being deployed through tubing to a pre-determined depth in the well. The gauge system comprises one or more wireless gauges to provide real time data from downhole to a surface location where the data are transferred to the surface using acoustic pressure travelling through production pipe and/or pressure pulses travelling through the produced fluid to the surface.

Real time downhole pressure and temperature sensor for retrofitting into producing wells

A system for deploying sensors throughout a vertical section and a horizontal section of an unconventional well comprises a mandrel comprising a set of extendable arms; a conductivity sensor mounted on a first predetermined subset of the set of movable arms; a strain sensor mounted on a second predetermined subset of the set of movable arms; a first downhole tool configured to be placed in the horizontal section of the unconventional well; a second downhole tool placed in a vertical section of the well, the first downhole tool and the second downhole tool adapted to operate simultaneously; a navigation package; a real time communications short hop data communicator; a data communicator; a downhole power source; and a surface system configured to collect and process data obtained in the well. The system can be used to provide data to evaluate conditions in the well and its reservoirs as well as frac height and frac width.

Instrumenting unconventional wells for real time in situ frac height determination, reservoir fluid movement, production monitoring and well integrity in fractured stages

A downhole communications system comprises a power generator disposed proximate a predetermined portion of a side pocket mandrel in such a way as to not impede fluid flow within a wellbore into which the side pocket mandrel is disposed and a wireless communications transmitter operatively in communication with the power generator. Placed at least partially within a side pocket mandrel, the system allows fluid flowing proximate the side pocket mandrel to engage the power generator to create electric energy which may be used to power the wireless communications transmitter and allow data interchange between the wireless communications transmitter and a predetermined well device.

This system invention relates to the use of short hop communications to transfer data between two modules inside a well. A system deployed in a well permanently or semi-permanently collects data from downhole parameters such as pressure, temperature, vibration, flow and fluid identification and stores the information in the system memory. The receiver module is deployed in the well via slick line, electric line or coil tubing with the purpose of retrieving the data from the system memory by interfacing with the downhole module via wireless short hop communications. The receiver module can also send commands into the downhole module to change its data collection parameters. Upon completion of the data transfer, the collector is returned to the surface where the data is again wirelessly transferred to a processing system such as a Personal Computer.

System for acquisition of wellbore parameters and short distance data transfer

This system invention relates to the use of short hop communications to transfer data between 2 modules inside a well. A system deployed in a well permanently or semi-permanently collects data from downhole parameters such as pressure, temperature, vibration, flow and fluid identification and stores the information in the system memory. Real time monitoring of a predetermined set of downhole parameters related to downhole status of a well comprises deploying a casing module as part of a casing string to a first predetermined location downhole, the casing module comprising a set of components, deploying a tubing module as part of a tubing string, typically within the casing string, where the tubing module comprises a set of tubing module components, and deploying a power generator to a distance within the well, typically as part of the tubing string and typically as part of the tubing module, and operatively connecting the power generator to the tubing module to effect power transmission from the power generator, generated downhole, to the tubing module and from the tubing wireless power transfer transmitter to the casing module. Data related to a predetermined set of downhole parameters related to downhole status of the well are transmitted from the casing module via a wireless data short hop transceiver to a tubing module wireless short hop data transceiver, the data the data and then from a surface data transceiver to a surface location.

Real time well integrity

A downhole wireless actuation based pipe lifting system with wireless communications and data acquisition capabilities for lifting casing from a well formation. The system may be deployed along a casing string with centralizers in the closed position to prevent any resistance that would be created by the centralizers. Upon reaching the proper location in the well, one or more pipe lifting systems may be actuated to lift the pipe from the well formation thereby providing a path for cement to flow around the casing. The system may collect, and store data before, during, and after the cementing process is performed, and may transmit the data wirelessly or by cable.

Wireless actuation and data acquisition with wireless communications system

Data may be collected from a wellbore by retrievably deploying a data receiver tool to a location proximate a gauge located in the wellbore, where the gauge comprises a sensor used to collect data from the well and where the location is at a distance sufficient to allow wireless data communication between a first wireless data transceiver and a gauge wireless data transceiver; securing the data receiver tool at that location; transmitting data from the gauge memory to the data receiver tool; and storing the transmitted data in the data receiver tool writeable memory.

Downhole to surface data lift apparatus

Components of a downhole integrated well management system, and its method of use, can be deployed through tubing, a liner, or casing in existing wells without the need to deploy new pipe or remove and re-install pipe in the well. The system can seal the flow of hydrocarbon fluid and re-direct it into the claimed internal flow control module which, in embodiments, comprises a mandrel comprising one or more ports providing fluid communication between the interior of the mandrel and the outside of the mandrel and corresponding controllable port covers and/or seals that are adapted to open, partially open, or fully close a corresponding port; a flow controller; one or more sensor modules adapted to monitor a predetermined set of activities in a well; one or more communications module; and one or more power electronic modules. A surface module may be present and adapted to generate and transmit commands to the flow control modules and receive information from them.

Downhole integrated well management system

A wellbore insert comprises a housing that further comprises an inner annulus and one or more ports dimensioned and configured to provide a fluid pathway between the inner annulus of the housing and the outer surface of the housing. A selectively movable port seal, operable via a port seal mover, is dimensioned and configured to selectively occlude or open these ports. A movable plug, controlled by a plug mover, operates within the housing to selectively permit or occlude fluid flow within the housing. A power supply and a detector are typically present within the housing. An individually addressable electronic control module is operable to effect a change in the position of the selectively movable port seal and/or the movable plug. The wellbore insert can be used for downhole operations such as frac operations.

Downhole smart control system

A method and system for monitoring and controlling an injection operation is disclosed. A plurality of distributed fiber optic sensors is located in a production well. Fluid is injected into an injection well spaced apart from the production well. A parameter of a formation between the production well and the injection well is determined from measurements from the formation obtained using the fiber optic sensors. At least one of an injection of fluid into the injection well and a flow into the production well is controlled in response to the determined parameter.

Monitoring of downhole parameters and tools utilizing fiber optics

A long distance power transfer coupler for wellbore applications system uses two or more wireless modules, each wireless module comprises a self-resonant coil, to transmit energy within a wellbore. The second, and potentially subsequent, wireless modules receive radiant electromagnetic energy from a nearby neighbor which the self-resonant coil converts to usable electromagnetic energy which may be used for power, data communications, or a combination thereof. A first module may be deployed at a predetermined position in the wellbore; a cable attached to a second length of tubing; and one or more second modules attached to the tubing and coupled inductively to a resistive load. The tubing and second module or modules are deployed downhole and electromagnetic energy transmitted wirelessly between the first module and the second module. Modules may be deployed in a completion string.

Long distance power transfer coupler for wellbore applications

A system which may be used to replace workover rigs and metallic pipes for the production of hydrocarbon from wellbores uses a non-metallic, substantially continuous, flexible tube comprising a flexible, non-metallic, e.g. resin-based, substantially continuous production tube that can be wellbore deployed and retrieved without the need of onsite rigs. The system's components can be placed inside existing pipes for work in old wells where removal of the existing tube is not economical. The tubes may also be spoolable, thereby increasing installation rates and flexibility. Connectors for the tube may be dimensioned and configured to allow for providing and/or sealing downhole tools to the production tube. In certain embodiments, an onsite power generator will provide a clean alternative to existing diesel burning generators and will typically use a furnace, boiler, steam engine and electrical power generator.
