The structure of a fibrous web roll is controlled by winding a fibrous web (W) into a fibrous web roll () through a winding nip (N) between the fibrous web roll () being formed and a winding drum (). The structure of the fibrous web roll () being formed is controlled by regulating the direction of passing the web to a windup, thereby regulating the wrap angle.

Method for controlling the structure of a fibrous web roll, for example, a paper or board roll

In paper winding, separate rolls are formed side by side around roll cores () placed one after the other while supported by support members. The cores are pressed at their ends against one another by core chucks () arranged in connection with the free ends of the outermost roll cores (). The roll cores () are placed in a desired position and subjected to a desired compression force by the core chucks (), the length of the row of roll cores () is determined, and the compression force of at least one core chuck () is regulated during winding when the length of the roll core row changes to keep the compression force and/or the length of the roll core row within desired limits.

Method and device for winding a paper or board web

The slitters of a slitter-winder in a paper or board machine are placed in position in slitting to slit component webs to the desired width. The slitters are moved to a new slitting position as a normal movement when the slitter-winder has stopped after slitting according to the preceding slitter setting. In positioning the slitters, at least one slitter not in use in the slitter-winder is moved before the normal movement as an advance movement to a new slitting position and/or to a waiting position for the next slitting position while the other slitters are slitting the web.

Method for positioning the slitters of a slitter-winder in a paper or board machine

A web is wound onto a core () while supported by winding drums (). The web is cut by a cutting device (), and a finished web roll () is removed by a transfer device (). A new core () is moved to a space between the winding drums (), and the winding is stopped to remove the finished roll () and to start a new roll. The core is moved onto support of one winding drum and a support member () and held in place by the support member () until the movable winding drum () has been moved to the starting position of winding.

Method and device in winding of a web

A paper web (W) is longitudinally divided into slit webs of desired widths and the slit webs are wound into rolls (R) about roll cores (H) at a winding station (A,B). The web is cut by a web-severing device () in conjunction with the roll set change of the winding operation. At least two slitter assemblies (A,B) are employed for slitting the web (W) and, when given ones of the slitter assemblies (A,B) are slitting the web (W) into one set of slit webs, the desired ones of the other slitter assemblies (A,B) are preset into desired slitting width positions for slitting the next set of slit webs. The winding apparatus has slitter assemblies () for longitudinally dividing a web (W) into slit webs and a winding station (A;B) for winding the slit webs into rolls (R) and a web-severing device for cutting the web.

Method and apparatus for winding a paper web

The invention concerns a method in winding of a web in a centre-drive winder, wherein the roll that is being formed is loaded and/or supported by means of a rider roll unit ( ) whose position can be varied and which consists of at least two rolls ( ). In the method, the force that is applied by the rider roll unit ( ) to the roll face in the radial direction and/or the distribution of said force between the rolls ( ) in the rider roll unit ( ) is/are measured by means of a detector of detectors ( ) directly connected with the winding head of the rider roll unit ( ). The invention concerns a device in winding of a web. The device is composed of at least one loading and/or support unit ( ) in order to support the winding core and to load the roll. The loading and/or support unit ( ) comprises at least two rolls ( ), around which at least one belt ( ) has been fitted in the axial direction of the rolls ( ). The rolls ( ) in the loading and/or support unit ( ) have been coupled together by means of coupling members ( ) so that movements of the rolls ( ) in relation to one another are geometrically positively controlled.

Device in winding of a web

A method and device for winding a paper web in which the paper web is unwound from a paper reel, the end of the paper web is taken as a substantially full width from the reel and attached to a threading member which extends substantially over the entire length in the cross direction of the web. The threading member carries the end of the paper web through the winding machine so that the web is carried with a substantially uniform tension. The threading member is carried by draw fabrics placed in the cross direction in the area of the web.

A method for winding a web onto a spool at least partially supported on a support roll in which the web passes through a nip formed between the support roll and a roll formed by the web winding on the spool. Method in winding of a web

A method for winding a paper web in which the paper web is unwound from a paper reel and passed through a slitting station of a slitter-winder in which it is slit longitudinally into component webs by blades, and the component webs are further wound into component rolls. A portion of the ends of the slit component webs are cut off in a cutter device to provide them with predetermined measures, i.e., a predetermined initial length, before the component webs are passed into the winding stations. The winding device in winding of a paper web includes an unwind station and a slitter-winder which includes a slitting station, a cutter device, and the winding stations for component rolls. The cutter device of the slitter-winder includes an arrangement for cutting the component webs to provide the predetermined lengths therefor.

Method and device for winding a paper web

A method and apparatus for cutting a paper or paperboard web particularly in a winder comprising at least one support roll (2) on which a roll (1) being wound is rotated. A curved, tensioned cutting blade (6) is rotated about the support roll (2) into the nip between the support roll (2) and the roll (1), whereby the sharpened and optionally toothed edge (9) of the blade cuts the web (4) being wound onto the roll (1) at a desired point.

Method and assembly for cutting a web

The invention concerns a method for arranging paper rolls coming, e.g. from a winder into a package suitable for delivery. The rolls are identified, end-labelled, and their width, weight and diameter are measured, whereupon a package is formed of a suitable number of rolls at a wrapping station. According to the invention, the rolls are transferred, each in its turn, to a positioning station, where they are identified and end-labelled one by one, whereupon the identification data and measurement data of each roll as well as of a preceding roll, if any, placed in the waiting position of the positioning station, are compared with the specification data of the package to be delivered. When said data of the rolls correspond to the specification data of the package, the rolls are transferred to the wrapping station, whereas, in the contrary case, the rolls are shifted to the waiting position of the positioning station. Thus, this acts as a sort of a buffer store for paper rolls. The most important items among the specification data are the delivery addresses of the rolls and the total width and weight of the rolls.

Apparatus and method for the arrangement and packaging of rolls

An apparatus for wrapping different sizes of paper rolls or rolls of like material into a wrapper by rotating the rolls. The apparatus comprises a support frame encompassing the roll, means for conveying the wrapper on the roll, and at least one flexible guide band which is devised to press on the outer surface of the roll and to comply with the rotating of the roll. In the apparatus according to the invention, the guide band is configured into an endless conveyor with an at least approximately U-shaped form, within which the roll to be wrapped is inserted. An inner loop of the conveyor is configured to pass over four guide rollers mounted on two first lever arms and two second lever arms are capable of being transferred against the outer surface of the roll to be wrapped. Then, the guide band, which passes over the guide rollers, during the wrapping phase touches the surface of the roll to be wrapped at each point within the three circumferential segments between the guide rollers on the outer surface of the roll to be wrapped.

Apparatus for wrapping paper rolls and the like in a wrapper

In a method for determining, by means of an observing and recording measuring device the exact position of a movable member and/or for determining a corrective movement to be performed from a position of the member, a measuring device having a datum position is used. The method includes the steps of determining the position of the movable member and/or a required corrective movement thereof by moving the measuring device past the position of the movable member and determining a new position obtained through the corrective movement or, alternatively, re-determining the first mentioned position of the movable member by moving the measuring device a second time past the movable member in an opposite direction.
