A server rack is cabled to obviate the need for top-of-rack switches. Switches and severs are connected through de-mateable connection interfaces at distribution modules disposed along the raceway above the server cabinets. The distribution modules may have externally accessible ports, internally accessible ports, and/or payout spools for the switch cables and/or the server cables.

Managing cables in fiber installation

A method of preparing a preformed fiber optic circuit for later termination to at least one fiber optic connector includes providing a substrate for supporting a plurality of optical fibers, the substrate including at least one layer of flexible foil, wherein the flexible foil may be formed from polyethylene terephthalate (PET) according to one example and peeling a layer including at least the optical fibers from the at least one layer of flexible foil.

Fiber optic circuit and preparation method

A fiber optic cable spool is disclosed herein. The fiber optic cable spool may include a first radial flange located at a first axial end of the fiber optic cable spool, a second radial flange located at a second axial end of the fiber optic cable spool, and a drum that extends axially between the first and second radial flanges. The fiber optic cable spool may also include a storage compartment located within the drum. The first radial flange may define a first opening for accessing the storage compartment within the drum. The drum may have a circumferential drum surface that defines a second opening for accessing the storage compartment within the drum.

A plurality of trays is disposed in the first splice tray mounting area. A tray is disposed in the second splice tray mounting area.

A cable assembly for optical monitoring is assembled by laying optical fibers into an adhesive layer on a substrate to form an optical circuit. First ends of the fibers are arranged in various groups and second ends of the fibers are arranged in various groups. Groups at a first end of the circuit are spliced to coupler input fibers and coupler output fibers. Groups at the second end of the circuit are terminated at one or more input connectors, one or more output connectors, and one or more monitoring connectors. Some cable assemblies monitor signals received at the input connectors. Other cable assemblies monitor signals received at both the input connectors and the output connectors.

A fiber optic telecommunications device includes a rack for mounting a plurality of chassis, each chassis including a plurality of trays slidably mounted thereon and arranged in a vertically stacked arrangement. Each tray includes fiber optic connection locations and a cable manager coupled to the tray and also coupled to the chassis, the cable manager for routing cables to and from the fiber optic connection locations and defining a plurality of link arms pivotally connected such that the manager retracts and extends with a corresponding movement of the tray, wherein the link arms pivot relative to each other to prevent cables managed therein from being bent in an arc having a radius of curvature less than a predetermined value, each link arm defining a top wall, a bottom wall, and two oppositely positioned sidewalls, each link arm defining an open portion along at least one of the sidewalls and an open portion along the top wall for receiving cables therein, the open portions along the top wall and the at least one of the sidewalls communicating with each other.

Slidable telecommunications tray with cable slack management

A breakout transition assembly including a plurality of optical fibers extending through a cable, a plurality of furcation tubes and a housing with a cable inlet and a furcation chamber. The cable, optical fibers and furcation tubes are fixed relative to the housing with a volume of hardened epoxy in the furcation chamber. The cable inlet includes a clearance that tapers between a first end and a second end. In another aspect, the breakout transition can also include a breakout holder comprising at least one guide, such that the plurality of furcation tubes are fixedly received in the at least one guide in the breakout holder, and the volume of hardened epoxy retains the breakout holder in an engaged position with the transition body.
