A multi-purpose covering for use with a medical device having a housing and an access port includes a substrate with a first end and a second end. The substrate defines the structure of the covering. The covering also includes a first securing portion nearer the first end of the substrate for securing at least one protective cap to the substrate, and a second securing portion nearer the second end for securing the substrate to the medical device. To protect the access port when the covering is sealed to the medical device, the covering can also include a sealing portion configured to be releasably secured to the medical device.

Multi-purpose protective covering for use on a medical device

A medical valve has an open mode that permits fluid flow, and a closed mode that prevents fluid flow. To that end, the medical valve has a housing having an inlet and an outlet, and a resilient member within the housing. The resilient member has a body portion with a free state when undeformed by external mechanical forces and a deformed state when the valve is in the closed mode. The body portion is formed to return toward the free state as the valve transitions from the closed mode to the open mode and defining at least part of a fluid path through the valve.

Medical valve with fluid volume alteration

One embodiment of this fastening apparatus comprises a body with a passage through its length, a threaded member, a locking member, and a bowed ring. The threaded member is retained by the locking member in the passage. The bowed ring is disposed on the body and is configured to be flexible. This body may be fabricated of graphite in one instance.

Fastening apparatus

One embodiment of this fastening apparatus comprises a cap with a passage through the length of the cap. This cap is received by the upper panels of a body. The embodiments of this fastening apparatus may have two or more upper panels that form a recess. The body also has a lower region with a passage. The upper panels are flexible and can translate to retain the cap within the recess. A threaded member is disposed in the passage of the body. This cap may be fabricated of graphite in one instance.
