Methods and apparatus to calibrate spatial light modulators are disclosed. Examples include processor circuitry to execute and/or instantiate instructions to provide a greyscale image to a spatial light modulator (SLM) to define voltages to be applied to individual pixels of the SLM. The voltages associated with pixel values in the greyscale image. The pixel values arranged in a double-slit grating pattern. The SLM to produce an interference pattern based on the double-slit grating pattern. The processor circuitry is to determine a phase difference between first and second gratings of the double-slit grating pattern based on the interference pattern. The processor circuitry is to generate a phase curvature based on the phase difference.

Methods and apparatus to calibrate spatial light modulators

Techniques related to generating holographic images are discussed. Such techniques include application of a hybrid system including a pre-trained deep neural network and a subsequent iterative process using a suitable propagation model to generate diffraction pattern image data for a target holographic image such that the diffraction pattern image data is to generate a holographic image when implemented via a holographic display.

Deep computational holography

Systems, devices, and techniques related to projecting dynamic feature patterns onto a scene for use in stereoscopic imaging are discussed. Such techniques may include implementing a dynamic transmissive element in an optical path between a projector and the scene to modify a static pattern emitted from the projector to illuminate the scene with a dynamic pattern.

Method and system of adaptable exposure control and light projection for cameras

A failsafe pulsed laser driver and method for using the same are disclosed. In one embodiment, an apparatus comprises a laser array having a plurality of lasers; and a laser driver coupled to the laser array, wherein the laser driver comprises a current limiter to provide a maximum current at or below a threshold current of lasers in the laser array or at a current level to meet laser safety requirements under circuit failure conditions; one or more capacitors coupled to current limiter and the laser array, the one or more capacitors to be charged in response to current from the current limiter; and a switch coupled to the one or more capacitors operable to cause current from the one or more capacitors to flow through the laser array.

Failsafe pulsed laser driver

A light pattern projector with a pattern mask to spatially modulate an intensity of a wideband illumination source, such as an LED, and a projector lens to reimage the spatially modulated emission onto regions of a scene that is to be captured with an image sensor. The projector lens may comprise a microlens array (MLA) including a first lenslet to reimage the spatially modulated emission onto a first portion of a scene, and a second lenslet to reimage the spatially modulated emission onto a first portion of a scene. The MLA may have a fly's eye architecture with convex curvature over a diameter of the projector lens in addition to the lenslet curvature. The pattern mask may be an amplitude mask comprising a mask pattern of high and low amplitude transmittance regions. In the alternative, the pattern mask may be a phase mask, such as a refractive or diffractive mask.

Systems and methods may involve minimizing interference when synchronization information is being transmitted from multiple sources. This may include receiving a trigger signal wherein the trigger signal includes a timing parameter to be used by a user device to synchronize with a content platform, and transmitting a synchronization signal having a transmitter identification and the timing parameter.

In general, in one aspect, a three dimensional (3D) display includes an optical stack, a backlight, panel electronics and a backlight driver. The optical stack is to present left eye and right eye images. The backlight is to illuminate the optical stack so the left eye and right eye images are visible and to provide signals for synchronizing the image illuminated on the optical stack with shutter glasses worn by a user to enable a left eye to view the left eye images and a right eye to view the right eye images. The panel electronics are to generate the left eye and right eye images on the optical stack. The backlight driver is to control operation of the backlight.

In one embodiment a display assembly comprises a liquid crystal module, a backlight assembly comprising an array of light emitting diodes, a timing controller, and a backlight controller coupled to the timing controller. The backlight controller comprises logic to initiate a power activation cycle at the beginning of an image presentation timing cycle and terminate the power activation cycle at the termination of the image presentation timing cycle. Other embodiments may be described.

Efficient luminous display

In general, in one aspect, an apparatus receives pixels associated with an image destined for an external display and determines a reduced backlight brightness for the external display and corresponding changes to the pixels to approximate overall quality of the image with current backlight brightness. Backlight commands are generated for the reduced backlight brightness and the pixels are enhanced to correspond to the reduced backlight brightness. The enhanced pixels and the backlight commands are transmitted to the external display via a display interface that supports backlight control. The display interface may be a wireless interface or a wired (cabled) interface (e.g., display port (DP), high definition multimedia interface (HDMI), video graphics array (VGA)). The functionality of the apparatus is included in a computing device so that backlight brightness reductions and corresponding pixel changes can be made taking into account policies of the computing device and user preferences.
