A microfluidic cartridge is provided. The microfluidic cartridge has an interior and an exterior. The microfluidic cartridge includes a reservoir disposed in the interior of the microfluidic cartridge and configured to contain a fluid composition. The microfluidic cartridge includes an electric circuit disposed on the exterior of the microfluidic cartridge. The electric circuit comprises a first end portion having electrical contacts and a second end portion opposing the first end portion. The microfluidic cartridge includes a microfluidic die disposed on the exterior of the microfluidic cartridge, wherein the microfluidic die is electrically connected with the second end portion of the electric circuit and in fluid communication with the reservoir. A silicone pressure-sensitive adhesive is used to join the electric circuit with the exterior of the microfluidic cartridge.

A fluidic ejection cartridge and protective tape therefor. The cartridge includes a cartridge body for an organic solvent-based fluid having a cover closing a first end thereof, an ejection head on a second end thereof and side walls attached to the first and second ends between the first and second ends. The side walls include a first side wall, a second side wall opposite the first side wall, a first end wall attached to the first and second side walls, and a second end wall opposite the first end wall attached to the first and second side walls. A removable tape is attached to a nozzle plate of the ejection head and to a portion of the first side wall. The removable tape contains a polymeric backing film and a glass-filled, platinum-cured silicone adhesive. The glass-filled, platinum-cured silicone adhesive is cross-linked with silane and a second cross-linking agent.

A fluidic ejection cartridge and protective tape therefor. The fluidic ejection cartridge has a cartridge body for an organic solvent-based fluid having a cover closing a first end thereof, an ejection head on a second end thereof opposite the first end, and side walls attached to the first and second ends between the first and second ends, wherein the side walls comprise a first side wall, a second side wall opposite the first side wall, a first end wall attached to the first and second side walls, and a second end wall opposite the first end wall attached to the first and second side walls. A removable tape is attached to a nozzle plate of the ejection head and to a portion of the first side wall, wherein the removable tape comprises a polymeric backing film and a platinum-cured silicone adhesive.

The fluidic ejection cartridge includes a cartridge body for fluid having a cover closing a first end thereof, an ejection head on a second end thereof opposite the first end, and side walls attached to the first and second ends between the first and second ends. The side walls include a first side wall, a second side wall opposite the first side wall, a first end wall attached to the first and second side walls, and a second end wall opposite the first end wall attached to the first and second side walls. A single ejection head protective tape is attached to a release structure on the first side wall and to the ejection head by an adhesive.

Fluidic ejection cartridge for improved protective tape removal

A fluidic ejection cartridge and protective tape system therefor. The fluidic ejection cartridge includes a cartridge body having a cover closing a first end thereof, an ejection head on a second end thereof, and side walls attached to the first and second ends. The side walls include a first side wall, a second side wall, a third side wall attached to the first and second side walls, and a fourth side wall opposite the third side wall. A first removable tape is attached to a release structure on the first side wall and to the ejection head by a first adhesive, and a second removable tape is attached to a portion of the first removable tape by a second adhesive. The second adhesive has an adhesive strength that is about three times greater than an adhesive strength of the first adhesive.

A print cartridge including a cartridge housing having a container body and a lid that encloses the container body. The lid includes a bottom surface and a top surface. One or more air vent openings are formed through the entire thickness of the lid from the top surface to the bottom surface. A hydrophobic coating is disposed on at least one of the top or the bottom surfaces of the lid, with the hydrophobic coating being absent over the one or more air vent openings. The hydrophobic coating is deposited in liquid or gaseous form.

A packaging label for an inkjet printhead including a first label portion adapted for adhesion to a first surface of the inkjet printhead, and a second label portion adapted for adhesion to a second surface of the inkjet printhead. The second label portion has a forked configuration including a first outer portion, a second outer portion and a central portion disposed between the first and second outer portions and adapted for adhesion to a packaging tape adhered to a nozzle plate of the inkjet printhead. The adhesion between the second label portion and the second surface of the inkjet printhead is higher than the adhesion between the first label portion and the first surface of the inkjet printhead.

An ink composition for used in an inkjet printer is provided. The ink composition includes a carrier medium, a colorant, and a silicon doping agent. The silicon doping agent may include silicic acid, silicon dioxide, or silicates. This silicon-doped ink reduces and prevents the etching of the silicon based components of the printhead. Silicon-doped inks protect the printhead from damage, thus improving printhead reliability and increasing printhead service life.

A micro-fluid ejection head assembly and methods for fabricating micro-fluid ejection heads using separately fabricated electrical components. The micro-fluid ejection head has at least one base substrate, at least one fluid ejector actuator substrate attached to the base substrate; and at least a first logic component substrate hermetically sealed to the base substrate. The fluid ejector actuator substrate and the first logic component substrate are in electrical communication with each other.

A process for making a substantially planar micro-fluid ejection head is disclosed, and includes depositing a basic solution on a first surface of a device substrate. The first surface having the basic solution deposited thereon is contacted together with a surface of a support material for a duration ranging from about 1 minute to about 15 minutes, at a temperature ranging from about 20&#xb0; C. to about 90&#xb0; C. so that the first surface having the basic solution deposited thereon and the surface of the support material form a bond therebetween to hermetically seal the support material and the device substrate to one another. Both the substrate and the at least one surface of the support comprise silicon, and at least one of the device substrate and the at least one surface of the support material is substantially composed of silicon.

Method for making a substantially planar micro-fluid ejection head

A spray coatable adhesive composition used for bonding silicon dies to a rigid substrate, preferable a silicon substrate is disclosed. The adhesive composition includes an epoxy based resin, a thermal acid generator, a photoacid generator and a solvent. The epoxy based resin includes a mixture of a solid bisphenol A epoxy resin and a liquid or semi-liquid hydrogenated bisphenol A epoxy resin at a weight ratio ranging from about 80:20 to about 65:35. The adhesive composition has a low viscosity which allows it to be spray coated on a rigid substrate and form thin film adhesive which allows silicon dies to be bonded with precise placement on the silicon substrate.

A method of forming a patterned photoresist layer having a hydrophobic surface is provided. The method includes forming a photoresist layer on a substrate and image patterning. The photoresist layer may comprise a polymeric material. The imaged photoresist layer may then undergo a two-stage post-exposure bake. A surface treatment may be performed on the photoresist layer in between the two-stage post-exposure bake. The surface treatment may include applying a siloxane solution on a partially post-exposure baked photoresist layer. The post-exposure baked photoresist layer may then be developed to form the patterned photoresist layer. The method may be used to form a hydrophobic photoimageable nozzle plate of a micro-fluid ejection head having improved mechanical properties and stable hydrophobic properties.

Disclosed is a fluid ejection device that includes a nozzle plate. The nozzle plate includes a plurality of nozzles for fluid ejection. Further, the fluid ejection device includes a substrate disposed below the nozzle plate. The substrate includes a top surface adapted to adhere to the nozzle plate. The substrate also includes at least one fluid via configured within the substrate for providing fluid to the plurality of nozzles of the nozzle plate. Furthermore, the fluid ejection device includes at least one supporting structure configured within each fluid via of the at least one fluid via. The at least one supporting structure is further configured at a predetermined depth from the top surface of the substrate to regulate the flow of the fluid from the at least one fluid via to the plurality of nozzles. Further, disclosed is a method to fabricate the fluid ejection device.
