A clinical analyser wastewater treatment apparatus is disclosed including a carbonator section. Preferably there is also an anodic oxidation section and a UV oxidation section, as well as a heavy metal removal section. The anodic oxidation section may include a conductive diamond anode. The apparatus may include a measurement device downstream of the carbonator section and a control system to control the operation of the carbonator. The measurement device is preferably a pH sensor.

Wastewater treatment apparatus and method

A method for monitoring the effectiveness of an ion exchange module in an ultrapure water purification circuit containing ultrapurified water and having a purified water inlet and a point of use outlet and a memory, the method including the steps of measuring the resistivity of ultrapurified water using one or more sensors to provide an ultrapurified benchmark resistivity value R; introducing purified water into the circuit and passing the water through the ion exchange module; measuring the resistivity of the water to provide a new water resistivity value R; and comparing Rand Rto determine the effectiveness of the ion exchange module.

Monitoring method

A method of determining the TOC of a purified water stream is disclosed comprising at least the steps of: passing a supply water stream through a water purification apparatus including an oxidizer to provide a purified water stream, and dispensing at least a portion of the purified water stream; stopping the dispense of the purified water stream and recirculating the purified water stream as a recirculating water stream through at least a portion of the water purification apparatus including the oxidizer to provide a re-oxidized water stream; and measuring the conductivity value of the re-oxidized water stream to determine the TOC of the purified water stream. In this way, a determination of the TOC of the purified water stream of can be provided without requiring a dedicated TOC monitor at the point of dispense of the purified water stream.

Method of TOC monitoring

An electrodeionisation apparatus comprising, successively: means defining an anode chamber, means defining one or more anion exchange chambers, means defining one or more mixed exchange chambers, means defining one or more cation exchange chambers, and means defining a cathode chamber, the anion, mixed and cation exchange chambers providing a flow path for water to be purified, is described. The present invention incorporates advantages of both separate resin bed and mixed resin bed technology.

Electrodeionisation apparatus

An electrodeionisation apparatus comprising a first deionising flow path and an integral second deionising flow path is described. The outflow from the first path is held in a holding tank prior to passage through the second flow path, and the outflow from the second path is available for use. Optionally, the second path outflow is partly or fully returned to the holding tank. Me recirculation of the already purified water in the holding tank maintains the water in the holding tank at a higher standard than otherwise &ldquo;standing&rdquo; purified water. The water in the holding tank could be separately made available for use. The apparatus requires the use of only a single pair of electrodes and hence one power supply. Moreover, the ion exchange materials in the first deionising flow path can be regenerated when water is not flowing through them such that they have a greater capacity for deionisation when required.

Apparatus and method of recirculating electrodeionization

An electrodialysis apparatus and method for purifying water. An electrodialysis apparatus including an anode and anode chamber, a cathode and cathode chamber, and a desalting stream flow path comprising a first portion juxtaposed to the anode and a second portion juxtaposed to the cathode is described. By passing water through the apparatus, purified water is produced.
