Embodiments of a system and a method for measuring cementitious board during its continuous manufacture can be used online in a continuous manufacturing process to effectively determine the degree to which cementitious slurry has set (e.g., expressed as percent hydration) at a predetermined location, such as, near a cutting station, for example. A compression assembly can be used to compressively engage the cementitious board in a controlled manner as it passes by the compression member along the conveyor between the forming station and the cutting station. A force gauge can be associated with the compression member to measure the resistance force exerted by the cementitious board in response to being compressed by the compression member. The resistance force can be correlated to a set characteristic of the cementitious board, such as a numerical value of percent hydration of the cementitious slurry of that particular portion of the cementitious board.

System and method for manufacturing cementitious boards with on-line slurry set measurement

Systems and methods are provided for identifying a location to perform work (e.g., drilling.). One exemplary method includes acquiring images of a hole in a first object from multiple lighting angles, processing the images to identify shadows cast by a wall of the hole at each of the lighting angles, and analyzing the shadows to determine an orientation of a central axis of the hole in a coordinate system of the first object. The method also includes, at a second object, selecting a location to drill that will be aligned with the central axis of the hole of the first object, and drilling the second object at the location.

A fibrous mat-faced cementitious article comprising (a) a cementitious core, and (b) a first fibrous mat comprising polymer or mineral fibers and a hydrophobic finish on at least one surface thereof, wherein the hydrophobic finish is in contact with the cementitious core, and a method of preparing a fibrous mat-faced cementitious article, as well as a method of preparing a water-resistant cementitious article comprising (a) preparing an aqueous siloxane dispersion, wherein the dispersion comprises about 4 wt. % to about 8 wt. % siloxane, (b) combining the siloxane dispersion with a cementitious mixture to provide a cementitious slurry, (c) depositing the cementitious slurry onto a substrate, and (d) allowing the cementitious slurry to harden, thereby providing a cementitious article.

Water resistant cementitious article and method for preparing same

Polymerization of siloxane is improved using a gypsum-based slurry that includes stucco, Class C fly ash, magnesium oxide and an emulsion of siloxane and water. This slurry is used in a method of making water-resistant gypsum articles that includes making an emulsion of siloxane and water, then combining the slurry with a dry mixture of stucco, magnesium oxide and Class C fly ash. The slurry is then shaped as desired and the stucco is allowed to set and the siloxane polymerizes. The resulting product is useful for making a water-resistant gypsum panel having a core that includes interwoven matrices of calcium sulfate dihydrate crystals and a silicone resin, where the interwoven matrices have dispersed throughout them a catalyst comprising magnesium oxide and components from a Class C fly ash.

An advanced smart card with a top layer, a core layer of thermoset polymeric material, and a bottom layer comprising an integrated electronics assembly mounted on a substrate. The advanced smart card is formed by positioning a bottom layer in a bottom mold, placing a top layer in a top mold, closing the mold, injecting a thermosetting polymeric material to form a precursor advanced smart card, removing the precursor, and trimming the precursor to produce a finished smart card.

Advanced smart cards with integrated electronics in bottom layer and method of making such advanced smart cards

Advanced Smart Cards and similar form factors (e.g. documents, tags) having high quality external surfaces of Polyvinylchloride (PVC), Polycarbonate (PC), synthetic paper or other suitable material can be made with highly sophisticated electronic components (e.g. Integrated Circuit chips, batteries, microprocessors, Light Emitting Diodes, Liquid Crystal Displays, polymer dome switches, and antennae), integrated in the bottom layer of the card structure, through use of injection molded thermosetting or thermoplastic material that becomes the core layer of said Advanced Smart Cards. A lamination finishing process can provide a high quality lower surface, and the encapsulation of the electronic components in the thermosetting or thermoplastic material provides protection from the lamination heat and pressure.

Method for making advanced smart cards with integrated electronics using isotropic thermoset adhesive materials with high quality exterior surfaces

Memory Cards containing Integrated Circuits and other electronic components (e.g. resistors) in a variety of form factors having high quality external surfaces of polycarbonate, synthetic paper (e.g. Teslin), or other suitable material (e.g. PVC) can be made through use of injection molded thermoplastic material or thermosetting material that becomes the core layer of said Memory Cards and similar devices. The object of the invention is to provide the following properties to Memory Cards: rapid production cycle, high volume manufacturing throughput, security, electronics protection, better tamper resistance, durability, and highly reliable complex electronics encapsulation, achieved through a process utilizing low temperature and low pressure.

Method for making memory cards and similar devices using isotropic thermoset materials with high quality exterior surfaces

A laser alignment tool includes a line laser assembly including a laser and emitting a laser beam line and an electronic target assembly including a photo detector array. The laser beam line of the laser is pointed toward the center of the photo detector array with the longitudinal axis of the laser beam line being perpendicular to the centerline of the photo detector array. The line laser assembly includes a laser diode having a line-generating lens attached in front using a lens holder and being mounted onto a tilt stage. Using a line laser provides a certified accuracy of &plus;/&minus;0.005 inches at a distance of 10 feet. The electronic target further includes a narrow band pass filter and a discrete LED display that is controlled by a microprocessor. The microprocessor may be programmed with a variable range for each LED of the discrete LED display according to the alignment task.
