Disclosed herein are systems and methods for control of a current interruption component in a battery system. Various embodiments consistent with the present disclosure may include a detection system configured to detect an event (e.g., an impact event, a resistive short, a coolant leak, etc.) and a control system configured to receive information from the detection system and to generate a control signal based upon detection of the event. The control signal may selectively actuate an electrical clearing component. A current interruption component may be configured to selectively interrupt a flow of current upon an occurrence of a condition that results from actuation of the electrical clearing component. Upon detection of the event by the detection system, the control system may generate the control signal to actuate the electrical clearing component, and the actuation of the electrical clearing component may trigger the current interruption system.

Systems and methods for control of a current interruption component in a battery system

A system and method for individually discharging battery cells in a high voltage vehicle battery. The system includes a battery controller that monitors and controls the state-of-charge of each of the battery cells and a cell balancing circuit for maintaining the charge of the cells substantially equal. The controller receives a signal from a vehicle crash detector indicating that the vehicle has been in a crash, and in response instructs the cell balancing circuit to discharge all of the battery cells.

An engine system and method for operating an internal combustion engine includes a turbocharger that generates a boost to the engine. A coolant temperature of the engine is determined along with other based engine inputs and calculated values. A normal boost based on operating conditions of the engine is determined. A supplemental boost is determined based on the coolant temperature. An offset boost based on the normal boost and the supplemental boost is determined. An air output of the turbocharger is modified based on the offset boost. The supplemental boost increases combustion efficiency, which reduces white smoke exhaust.

A control system and method for increasing engine temperature for an engine having a variable nozzle turbo (VNT) is provided. An offset idle module generates an offset idle signal. A normal boost module calculates a normal boost. A supplemental boost module calculates a supplemental boost. An offset boost module generates an offset boost signal for the VNT based on the normal boost and the supplemental boost. A control module adjusts engine idle and VNT boost based on the offset idle signal and the offset boost signal.
