A device for cutting a welded wire structure is provided. The welded wire structure includes a first wire and a second wire which are joined together and are offset relative to each other. The device includes a first arm pivotally connected to a second arm. The first arm includes a handle and a jaw connected thereto. The second arm includes a handle and a jaw connected thereto. The jaws are offset from each other. The jaw of the first arm includes a U-shaped portion into which the first wire is capable of being positioned during cutting. The jaw of the second arm includes a notch provided in a surface thereof which faces the jaw of the first arm. The second wire is capable of being positioned within the notch during cutting.

Device for cutting welded wire structures

A retaining collar assembly for use with a hole saw arbor assembly. The arbor assembly includes a shaft, a hole saw attached to the shaft, a drive collar retained on the shaft for engaging the hole saw and a spring retained on the shaft. The retaining collar assembly includes a retaining collar which is retained on the shaft and abuts the spring such that the spring urges the retaining collar towards the drive collar. An axial limiting area is disposed on the shaft spaced away from the collar with a retaining collar rotating area disposed therebetween. The retaining collar rotating area allows the collar to rotate about the shaft while the axial limiting area only allows axial movement and not rotary movement. Protrusions and recesses are formed on the retaining collar and drive collar to prevent rotary movement of the retaining collar and drive collar relative to one another when the retaining collar is positioned in a retaining position. The retaining collar can be disengaged from the drive collar by rotating the retaining collar an angle so that a bore extending through the retaining collar aligns with the axial limiting area allowing simultaneous axial displacement of the retaining collar and the drive collar along the shaft. When the retaining collar is axially displaced along the shaft, the drive collar is disengagable from the hole saw. When the retaining collar is urged into engagement with the drive collar, the drive collar cannot be unintentionally disengaged from the hole saw.

A boring bit for boring holes in one or more workpieces such as wood and the like. An axially elongated shank portion of the boring bit has a tool engaging portion at one end and a head portion on a second end. A central axis longitudinally extends through the shank portion. The head portion includes a helically disposed surface on the end of the head portion which is frusto-conically sloped inwardly towards the central axis and generally towards the tool engaging portion. The helical surface has leading and following termini of which the leading terminus is advanced beyond the following terminus more than one-half of a helical revolution around the central axis along the shank portion. A cutting face, which is a planar surface, is perpendicularly spaced away from and extends parallel to the central axis. The cutting face intersects the leading terminus for scribing the bore circumference and scraping material from a workpiece when the boring bit is employed to form a bore in such a workpiece. A cutting edge and a scraping edge are defined by an intersection of the cutting face with the helical surface and a perimeter surface of the shank portion, respectively. A scribing edge is defined by an intersection of the helical surface and the perimeter surface of the shank portion. A scribing tip is defined by an intersection of the scraping edge, cutting edge, and scribing edge. The scribing tip facilitates the scribing function of the boring bit. A threaded lead screw portion axially extends away from the head portion for piloting the boring bit into a workpiece during a boring operation. Spaced apart spiral flutes are formed around the perimeter surface of the shank portion for removing material from the bored hole during the bore forming operation.

Auger bit

A rotary cutting devbice for cutting holes in a workpiece and a method of making a rotary cutting device. The method includes machining a notch across a face of a generally cylindrical body. The body has a longitudinally extending central axis and a central bore formed concentric therewith. Machining the notch forms at least one generally arcuate protrusion on a face of the body. A slot is formed through each of the protrusions resulting in two teeth being formed on either side of the mouth of the slots. A cutting tooth and a stabilizing tooth is formed on each side of the mouth of each slot formed in the body. The cutting tooth removes material from the workpiece and the stabilizing tooth limits the feed rate and prevents grabbing when a rotary motion is applied thereto.
