A wiping article is provided which includes an effervescent cleanser composition held within a pouch formed from a first and second substrate sheet. At least one of the substrate sheets must be water permeable. The effervescent composition is an intimate mixture of an acid material such as citric acid and an alkaline material such as sodium bicarbonate. Water contact causes the combination to effervesce. A dry surfactant such as sodium cocoyl isethionate in contact with the water and effervescing carbon dioxide results in a highly pleasant sudsing system. Skin benefit agents may be included within the composition. The effervescent action may improve deposition of the skin benefit agents onto the skin.

Cosmetic effervescent cleansing pillow

A cosmetic sea salt scrub is provided which includes sodium sesquicarbonate and an oil. Sodium sesquicarbonate ordinarily is the major salt present and amounts of this salt relative to the oil may range from about 20:1 to about 5:1 by weight. Mineral oil is particularly preferred as the oil phase. Salt scrubs according to this invention are relatively uniform in composition, easily dispensed from a jar and spread uniformly on the skin.

Conditioning cosmetic cleanser compositions

A foaming cleansing product is provided as a cleansing composition packaged in a non-aerosol mechanical dispenser. The dispenser includes a container for holding a liquid composition, a dispensing head with a housing enclosing a pump mechanism and a screen material in the flow path to convert liquid composition into a foam, and a diptube for delivering liquid from the container to the dispensing head. The cleansing composition is free of water insoluble emollients and includes an anionic surfactant and an amphoteric surfactant of structure: ##STR1## wherein R is a fatty alkyl of 6 to 22 carbons; R.sup.1 is selected from the group consisting of H, C.sub.2 H.sub.4 COOH and C.sub.2 H.sub.4 COONa; and R.sup.2 is selected from the group consisting of COONa, CH.sub.2 CHOHCH.sub.2 SO.sub.3 Na, C.sub.2 H.sub.4 COONa, CH.sub.2 COOCH.sub.2 COOH and CH.sub.2 COOCH.sub.2 COONa.

Foaming cleansing skin product

A hair treatment composition is provided that includes a water-insoluble, dispersible polymeric resin having a viscosity of less than 2 centipoise at 25.degree. C. when dispersed at 10% in water and a water-soluble amphoteric polymer.

A method and a hair care composition with stylability are provided for improving conditioning and stylability. The composition combines phytantriol and a silicone compound.

Hair care compositions

A hairspray composition is described that includes a nonionic polymer and an anionic polymer. The nonionic polymer is formed from monomers having at least one unneutralized carboxylic acid. The anionic polymer is identical to the nonionic one, except that all of the carboxylic acid groups are in salt form. Advantageously, the composition further includes an acrylic resin, most especially an amphoteric one. Best results are achieved when the acrylic resin is neutralized with a relatively small cation such as potassium and a second cation of a water soluble fatty amine. These compositions employ water as the carrier and dimethyl ether as propellant.

Sprayable hair treatment composition

A hair treatment composition is provided that includes a water-insoluble, dispersible polymeric resin having a viscosity of less than 2 centipoise at 25.degree. C. when dispersed at 10% in water; a water-soluble polymeric resin having a viscosity greater than 6 centipoise at 25.degree. C. when 10% is placed in water; and a water-soluble polymer of molecular weight greater than about 500,000. Illustrative of the water-insoluble resin is a diglycol/cyclohexanedimethanol/isophthalates/sulfoisophthalates polyester. Preferably the water-soluble polymeric resin is a copolymer of polyvinyl-pyrrolidone and vinyl acetate. The preferred water-soluble polymer is polyvinylpyrrolidone, especially a polymer having molecular weight of around 630,000.
