An aircraft luggage system comprising a luggage compartment which comprises an upper side directed towards a ceiling of an aircraft when the luggage compartment is assembled in the aircraft, a lower side directed towards a floor of the aircraft, a rear side directed towards an outer contour of the aircraft, and two side faces connect the upper side to the lower side. The lower side of the luggage compartment is rigidly connected to the side faces and the rear side of the luggage compartment. A flap, movable between a closed position and an open position, is configured to make an inner space of the luggage compartment accessible or to close it. At least one additional luggage compartment is arranged adjacent to at least one of the upper side and the lower side of the luggage compartment.

An aircraft area comprises a first rib forming a component of an aircraft primary structure and extending in an arc shape along an outer contour of the aircraft area. A second rib is arranged at a distance from the first rib and parallel to the first rib, also forms a component of the aircraft primary structure and extends in an arc shape along the outer contour of the aircraft area. A luggage compartment is arranged between the first and the second rib such that a portion of a first side face of the luggage compartment that faces the first rib is arranged opposite a side face of the first rib that faces the luggage compartment, and/or that a portion of a second side face of the luggage compartment that faces the second rib is arranged opposite a side face of the second rib that faces the luggage compartment.

A locking apparatus for an object that is lockable on a rail is provided such that the object may be undone in a single manual operating step. The apparatus may be used in a passenger aircraft in which it is necessary to slide seats or other built-in devices. The apparatus includes at least one first base body, at least one first locking body, and at least one first operating element. The at least one first base body is designed to be placed on top of the rail. The at least one first locking body is movably held to the at least one first base body, and is shaped to be placed into the rail. The at least one first operating element is connected to the at least one first locking body for moving the at least one first locking body in the direction of the interior of the rail.

The invention relates to a device for receiving baggage in a passenger cabin for aircraft, which device comprises a stowage compartment, also referred to as a 'hatrack', which stowage compartment is arranged above a seat row so as to be swivellable in longitudinal direction of the aircraft. The hatrack includes a single-part housing that forms a baggage receptacle. Starting from an open loading position, the housing is swivellable to a transport position or stowage position on a pivot axis that is arranged near the centre of gravity and that is associated with a bottom of the housing. For affixation of the hatrack the housing is connected to a structure of the aircraft fuselage, which structure is fixed to the aircraft, by means of an exterior frame.
