Circuits, methods, and apparatus that can allow chipsets in an electronic device to share information such that they can more efficiently utilize resources that are available in the electronic device. One example can provide a bus that is shared by three or more chipsets in an electronic device. This shared bus can be used by the chipsets in the electronic device to communicate and negotiate for the utilization of resources of the electronic device.

Bus protocol for multiple chipsets

An approach is described for a wireless device comprising a transceiver and a processor communicatively coupled to the transceiver. The processor is configured to detect a packet for transmission; scan, using the transceiver, a channel during an initial sliding window, the initial sliding window having N symbol durations; determine a power distribution of the initial sliding window based on the channel scan; determine that the channel is occupied during a first time period of the initial sliding window based at least on the power distribution; and determine a second sliding window having a second time period and a third time period. The second time period overlaps with the initial sliding window and a length of the third time period is determined based at least on the power distribution. The processor is further configured to scan, using the transceiver, the channel during the third time period; determine that the channel is idle during the third time period of the second sliding window; and transmit, using the transceiver, the packet to a second wireless device on the channel responsive to the third time period being idle.

Thread boost mode for carrier-sense multiple access/carrier aggregation (CSMA/CA)

Embodiments for performing a fast return to Wi-Fi following completion of a cellular voice call are provided. These embodiments include detecting that a device has switched from communicating over a Wi-Fi interface to communicating over a cellular interface; determining the earliest time that the device can switch back to Wi-Fi; and instituting the switch. In some embodiments, the process of performing a fast return to Wi-Fi is carried out by devices having small form factors, such as smartwatches and other wearables, which may be susceptible to coexistence and peak power problems. The fast return to Wi-Fi embodiments disclosed herein allow a device to perform a voice call over a cellular interface when Wi-Fi calling is not available, and switch over to a Wi-Fi interface immediately upon completion of the voice call in order to conserve battery life, achieve higher data speeds, and avoid high costs associated with cellular data transmissions.

Fast return to Wi-Fi

An interface circuit in an electronic device (such as an access point) may request a channel status in order to specify a subset of one or more frequency sub-bands. During operation, the interface circuit may provide at least a frame to the recipient electronic device, where the frame requests the channel status for the one or more frequency sub-bands. Then, the electronic device may receive one or more measurement results from the recipient electronic device that specify the subset of the one or more frequency sub-bands (such as one or more RUs) that are not to be used when communicating with the recipient electronic device.

Forbidden-resource-unit indication for coexisting communication

A client device can be configured to identify data to be communicated with a network. In some examples, the client device can determine one or more transient properties of the client device and/or receive a connection request from a host device that is connected to the network, where the connection request comprises one or more connection properties of the host device. In some instances, the client device can also be configured to determine whether the host device is capable of transmitting the data to the network based at least in part on the one or more transient properties of the client device and the one or more connection properties of the host device and/or establish a connection with the host device in accordance with determining that the host device is capable of transmitting the data to the network.

Determining when to establish connection between mobile client and proxy devices

A method for facilitating in-device coexistence between wireless communication technologies on a wireless communication device is provided. The method can include transmitting data traffic from the wireless communication device via an aggressor wireless communication technology; determining occurrence of an in-device interference condition resulting from transmission of the data traffic via the aggressor wireless communication technology interfering with concurrent data reception by the wireless communication device via a victim wireless communication technology; and reducing a bit rate of the data traffic transmitted via the aggressor wireless communication technology in response to the in-device interference condition.

Facilitating in-device coexistence between wireless communication technologies

Embodiments relate to apparatus, systems, and methods for reception of calls on a mobile device that includes Wi-Fi and cellular radios. The mobile device may be configured to establish communication on a Wi-Fi network with a cellular carrier. The mobile device may further be configured to register a first IP address with an IMS server for the Wi-Fi network communication and register a second IP address with the IMS server for the cellular network communication (or register different ports of a single IP address with Wi-Fi and cellular). Upon occurrence of a mobile terminating call from the cellular carrier, the mobile device may receive an incoming call notification on one or both of the Wi-Fi network using the first IP address and the cellular network using the second IP address.

A device implementing a system for coexistence of collocated radios may include a first radio circuit configured to receive, from a collocated second radio circuit, a start indication for cellular activity associated with a radio resource control connection. The first radio circuit may be configured to, responsive to receiving the start indication, stop a wireless transmission capability. The first radio circuit may be configured to receive, from the collocated cellular circuit, an end indication for the cellular activity prior to the radio resource control connection being released. The first radio circuit may be configured to resume the wireless transmission capability in accordance with a reduced power level response to receiving the end indication.

Coexistence of collocated radios

A user equipment (UE) operating in a communication system comprising a base station and one or more UEs. The UE may be configured to operate on or 'camp' on two different networks with one radio. In this exemplary system, the radio may be normally connected to the first network (NW) and may from time to time be 'tuned away' from NWto a second network (NW). The UE may inform NWthat it has tuned away to another network, e.g., using start and end indicators. This information may prevent NWfrom wasting downlink capacity by unnecessarily allocating downlink resources to the UE during the tune-away. Alternatively, or in addition, this information may prevent NWfrom penalizing the UE, e.g., by reducing its future downlink allocations, since the UE does not respond to NWcommands during the tune-away.

Assisted management of radio resources across dual networks

A wireless communication device (UE) includes a cellular processor configured to conduct wireless communications according to a first radio access technology (RAT) in a first frequency band and in a second frequency band, wherein the first RAT is a cellular RAT, the first frequency band is in an unlicensed spectrum, and the second frequency band is in a licensed spectrum. In some embodiments, the apparatus includes a wireless local area network (WLAN) processor configured to conduct wireless communications according to a second RAT in the first frequency band. In some embodiments, the cellular processor and the WLAN processor are configured to couple to a common antenna for communications in the first frequency band. In some embodiments, the cellular processor may notify the WLAN processor when it is scanning and/or when it is assigned secondary component carriers in the first frequency band. In some embodiments, the WLAN processor may notify the cellular processor when it is transmitting. In some embodiments, the WLAN processor and/or the cellular processor may perform one or more actions in response to such notifications to improve coexistence in the first frequency band.

LAA/WiFi Coexistence for 5GHz antenna sharing

A host device may include a first wireless communication circuit, a second wireless communication circuit including a proxy router, and a host processor communicatively coupled to the wireless communication circuits. The host device may receive, via the second wireless communication circuit, an advertisement message from a client device. The advertisement message may include a request for communication of data with a network. The host device may determine at least one of a communication policy preference of the host device and a network connection property of the host device. The proxy router may select the first or the second wireless communication circuit for use by the host device to communicate the data with the network. The host device may provide, via the second wireless communication circuit, a connection request to the client device, and then transfer, using the selected wireless communication circuit, the data between the client device and the network.

Determining routing of proxy traffic between mobile client and proxy devices

A device and method selects an antenna configuration. The method performed at a user equipment includes determining at least one communication functionality that is being used, each communication functionality configured to utilize at least one antenna in a multi-antenna arrangement of the user equipment. The method includes receiving a first indication of whether a cellular communication functionality is being used, the cellular communication functionality configured to utilize at least one antenna in the multi-antenna arrangement. The method includes receiving a second indication of whether a coexistence condition is present. The method includes determining an antenna configuration for the multi-antenna arrangement to be used by the determined communication functionality based upon the determined communication functionality, the first indication, and the second indication. The method includes configuring the multi-antenna arrangement for the determined communication functionality based upon the antenna configuration.
