Anti-kogation agents and ink compositions containing it. Such anti-kogation agent has the formula (I) or (II) wherein R is an alkyl group having from 1 to 10 carbon atoms and n is an integer ranging from 3 to 10. A disclosed ink composition includes an ink vehicle, from about 0.1 to about 10 weight percentage of colorants and from about 0.01 to about 10 weight percentage of the anti-kogation agents.

Ink compositions and methods of using the same are disclosed. An example ink composition includes an inkjet vehicle, from about 0.1 wt % to about 10 wt % of colorants, from about 0.01 wt % to about 10 wt % of anti-kogation agents, and from about 0.01 wt % to about 6 wt % of a water soluble component represented by formula (I).

Compositions, systems, and methods of printing an ink-jet image are provided. The composition can include a liquid vehicle including water, a liquid vehicle having from 5 wt % to 35 wt % of total organic solvent content; from 1 wt % to 6 wt % of acid-functionalized pigment solids; and from 0.001 wt % to 6 wt % of styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer, said styrene-maleic anhydride copolymer having a weight average molecular weight from about 400 Mw to 15,000 Mw.

Pigmented ink-jet inks with improved print quality and reliability

An ink includes a jettable vehicle, a plurality of pigment solids dispersed in the jettable vehicle, and a styrene-maleimide copolymer dispersed in the jettable vehicle. Additionally, a method of rapidly printing an ink-jet image including ink-jetting an ink-jet ink onto a media substrate at a firing frequency from 12 kHz to 25 kHz, wherein the ink-jet ink includes a jettable vehicle, a plurality of non-acid-functionalized pigment solids dispersed in the jettable vehicle, and a styerene-maleimide copolymer dispersed in the jettable vehicle.

Compositions, systems, and methods method of rapidly printing a black ink-jet image are provided. The composition can include a liquid vehicle including water, and from 15 wt % to 30 wt % organic solvent, wherein from 3 wt % to 10 wt % of the organic solvent is a methylated pentanetriol co-solvent; and from 1 wt % to 6 wt % of a dispersant-functionalized black carbon pigment. Obtaining firing frequencies from 15 kHz to 25 kHz are feasible with such compositions, provided the ink-jet architecture used with these pens is capable of firing at these very rapid rates.

Black pigmented ink-jet inks with improved frequency response

The present invention is drawn to ink-vehicle compositions and systems adapted for use in low dye load ink compositions, contain no salts, and provide low orifice plate puddling. Specifically, a non-reactive ink-vehicle for low dye-load ink-jet inks can comprise an effective amount of water; from 1% to 3% by weight of a 1,5-pentanediol co-solvent; from 7.5% to 15% by weight of a trimethylolpropane co-solvent; and from 5% to 8% by weight of a third co-solvent, with the proviso that the ink-vehicle comprise at least 20% by weight of total co-solvent. Alternatively, a non-reactive ink-vehicle for low dye-load ink-jet inks can comprise an effective amount of water; from 1% to 3% by weight of a 1,5-pentanediol co-solvent; from 7.5% to 15% by weight of a trimethylolpropane co-solvent; and from 0.05% to 0.25% of a buffer consisting essentially of 2-amino-2-(hydroxymethyl)-1,3-propanediol. These ink-jet ink vehicles can be used in swappable ink-jet pen systems having a common service station.

The present invention is drawn to ink-jet inks that can be used with cyan, magenta, and yellow ink set systems for improved image gamut and lightfastness while maintaining good chroma in the case of color ink and lightness in the case of black ink. More specifically, in an embodiment of the invention, ink sets can comprise specific ink-jet inks having low dye load dyes for use in six-ink systems, for example.
