A cargo bin assembly of an automotive vehicle includes a recess that extends below a floor surface. The recess preferably has a stepped conformation where a first, shallow rim portion receives support members without the potential for interfering with items stored in a second, deep storage portion of the recess. Preferably, the deep storage portion is dimensioned to receive side panel lids from side storage assemblies. Removal of the generally planar side panel lids allows elongated items to be received in the cargo area, and the cargo recess allows the side panel lids to be stored. No openings are provided along the lower portion of the side storage cavity to prevent collection of dirt or debris.

A vehicle assembly includes a vehicle floor, a vehicle seat, and an automobile carpet. The vehicle seat includes risers mounted to the vehicle floor. The automobile carpet attaches to the vehicle floor and includes a topcoat and a backing coupled with and disposed vertically below the topcoat. At least a portion of the backing is removed from the topcoat to define a removed section disposed below and longitudinally aligned with the vehicle seat. A method for installing the automobile carpet and the automobile carpet are also disclosed.

A seat support assembly for supporting a vehicle seat on a floor panel member includes a cross member extending laterally across the floor panel member. Ends of the cross member are spaced laterally inward relative to side edges of the floor panel for providing ingress/egress areas between the ends and the side edges. A foam spacer member is complementarily received inside each of the ends of the cross member. Each of the foam spacer members is secured to the floor panel for transferring load forces from the cross member to the floor panel.

Seat support assembly

A vehicle includes a body structure and a rear vehicular seat assembly that includes a seat back and a cover panel. The seat back is movably coupled with the body structure and is movable between upright and cargo support positions. The cover panel is associated with the seat back and includes a flap, a base portion, and a perforated living hinge. The base portion is fixedly coupled with the body structure. The perforated living hinge includes a plurality of arms. Each arm of the plurality of arms extends between the flap and the base portion to facilitate pivoting of the flap with respect to the base portion about a hinge axis between stowed and bridging positions. The plurality of arms are spaced from each other and cooperate to at least partially define a plurality of perforations. At least one of the perforations is intersected by the hinge axis.

Vehicular seat assembly and vehicles including same

A cargo support and storage system for use in a vehicle and method is provided and includes a first stabilizing element having a primary end and a secondary end. The primary end of the first stabilizing element is extendible from a first sidewall to a second sidewall of the vehicle. A second stabilizing element can include a primary end and a secondary end, the primary end of the second stabilizing element being extendible from the first sidewall to the second sidewall of the vehicle. The first and second stabilizing elements are spaced away from and substantially parallel to each other, and can be formed as belts. When in use, the first and second stabilizing elements can be maintained in tension, but can be removed or retracted when not in use so that they do not take up space in the cargo area of the vehicle. A storage box can be provided and tailored to include extension that mate with the stabilizing elements such that the box can be hung in the cargo area. The cargo support and storage system according to the disclosed subject matter provides for a lower cost, lower weight and space efficient solution to cargo storage needs in a vehicle.

Tonneau or cargo cover support system and method

A cargo storage and support system and method is provided for use in a vehicle which includes a substantially planar storage body made of a collapsible material and having a first edge and a second edge substantially parallel to the first edge, at least one collapsible storage area formed within the substantially planar storage body and at least one attachment structure formed adjacent the first edge and the second edge of the storage body for attachment to a vehicle body. The storage body is maintained in tension when in use so that it can carry a load. The storage areas are formed within the storage body and can be accessed from a top surface of the storage body and are collapsible. The storage body can also be removed from the vehicle for pre-loading or if it is not being used. Attachment structures formed adjacent the storage body mate with receiving structures formed on a vehicle so that the storage body is maintained in tension.

A vehicle multi-compartment cargo system includes a first storage compartment defined by a cargo bin lining. The first storage compartment has an open upper side selectively closed by a first compartment lid. A second storage compartment is also defined by the cargo bin lining. The second storage compartment has an open upper side selectively closed by a second compartment lid. The first and second compartment lids form a cargo floor. A side compartment is defined by a side lining. The side compartment has an open side extending upward from the cargo floor and is selectively closed by a side compartment lid.
