A textile machine apparatus for handling tubes having remaining yarn thereon includes a branch path for supporting tube support members, which individually support tubes thereon, for travel to and from the discharge assembly of a textile winding machine. The tube handling apparatus also includes a sensor disposed along the discharge transport path of the tube support members from the winding stations of the textile winding machine for discriminating among tubes having no yarn thereon and tubes having remaining yarn thereon. A guide member is operatively connected to the discriminating sensor for guiding the tube support members supporting tubes having remaining yarn thereon onto the branch path for transport therealong to a tube stripping device, which strips the tubes of the remaining yarn. The stripped tubes are then returned to the discharge transport path at a location upstream of the discriminating sensor. In one aspect of the invention, the discriminating sensor discriminates among tubes having less than a predetermined minimum amount of yarn thereon, tubes having more than a predetermined minimum amount of yarn thereon, and tubes having no yarn thereon.

A yarn end preparing apparatus is provided for drawing off a yarn end of a textile yarn package and thereafter rewinding the drawn out yarn end onto the yarn package at a preferred location thereon. The yarn preparing apparatus includes a suction housing supported on a pair of vertical guide rods for movement parallel to the axis of a yarn package to be prepared. A pair of linkage members, each comprising a conduit, are pivotably connected to one another with their respective conduits communicated with one another for applying suction through the conduits to the suction housing to thereby effect drawing in of a yarn end through a suction slot of the suction housing. A light beam emitting member is mounted forwardly of the suction slot for emitting a light beam detected by a light beam detecting member mounted on an opposite forward side of the suction slot. During downward movement of the suction housing to dispose the suction slot adjacent the tapered top portion of a yarn package, the light beam is interrupted by the body of yarn on the yarn package as the suction slot reaches an optimal spacing from the yarn package and a control unit stops the movement of the suction housing in response to the interruption of the light beam to automatically position the suction slot at a predetermined optimal spacing from the tapered top portion of a yarn package independent of the relative axial position of the tapered top portion.

Automatic positioning device for a yarn end finder

An apparatus for automatic rotational positioning of textile yarn winding tubes about their lengthwise axes while being transported on peg-tray tube carriers along a conveyor belt or other transport path includes a positioning station having a pair of rotatable positioning rollers disposed at the station along one side of the transport path at a sufficiently close spacing to one another to prevent passage of the peg trays therebetween. Each peg tray has a base plate whose annular surface is formed of a magnetically attractable material such as iron and at least the upstream one of the positioning rollers is magnetized to selectively exert a magnetic force on the peg trays at controllable intervals. As desired, the downstream positioning roller can also be magnetized.

A yarn end preparing assembly for a textile winding machine wherein yarn packages are disposed on peg tray-type tube support members and transported to winding stations along a common preliminary path to a respective one of a plurality of yarn end preparation devices which have components for sequentially handling the yarn packages to dispose their yarn ends in preferred preliminary dispositions. The yarn end preparation devices are each disposed on a respective branch path which branches the common preliminary path. The relationship of the branch path to one another can be varied and the relationship of each component of the yarn end preparation devices relative to the same respective component on the other yarn end preparation devices can be varied to optimize the production capability of the yarn end preparing assembly. Sensors and pivotable arm members are provided to selectively guide the tube support members to the branch paths.

Assembly for preparing yarn ends of yarn packages for unwinding at a

A yarn package handling assembly is provided for handling yarn packages transported on individual package support members on a textile winding machine. The yarn package handling assembly includes a yarn end disposing arrangement operable to dispose the yarn ends of yarn packages into preferred preliminary dispositions for handling at the winding stations of the machine. Another yarn end disposing arrangement is provided for more aggressively acting on yarn packages to dispose their yarn ends in a preferred preliminary disposition where the first arrangement was unsuccessful, handling yarn packages in a special manner to dispose their yarn ends in a preferred preliminary disposition and the yarn packages prepared by the more aggressive yarn end disposing arrangement are transported along a second transport path back to the path for feeding packages from the first-mentioned arrangement to the winding stations. According to one aspect of the present invention, a tube stripping device can be provided for stripping yarn from tubes. According to another aspect of the present invention, a yarn amount sensing member senses the presence of yarn on tubes discharged from the winding stations and controls recirculates those tubes having more than a minimum amount of yarn to the more aggressive yarn end disposing arrangement.

Assembly for readying yarn packages for unwinding at a textile winding

A yarn end unwinding apparatus includes a support base for supporting a yarn package in an upright disposition and a cooperating member. The cooperating member at least partially circumferentially surrounds the upright yarn package and includes a plurality of jet nozzles for directing jet streams of gas interiorly of the cooperating member. The jet streams of gas combine together to form a spiraling stream of gas which causes planetary motion of the package. The package moves in contacting relation along the inner surface of the cooperating member while simultaneously rotating about the package axis and this planetary motion of the package causes unwinding of the yarn end therefrom into position for subsequent package unwinding engagement. The support base preferably includes a pair of relatively movable semi-cylindrical portions.

A shaft control mechanism for controlling a shaft of a weaving machine according to a pattern includes a connecting rod operatively connected to the shaft, a drive element intermittently rotating and standing still in a dead center position, an eccentric disc rotatably supported on the connecting rod, a coupling element connected to the eccentric disc, a device for moving the coupling element into a recess formed in the drive element interconnecting the drive element and the eccentric disc in a coupled position, a controllable locking element securing the coupling element against movement out of said recess into an uncoupled position until the drive element reaches the dead center position along with the eccentric disc, and at least one control element transmitting an external force to the coupling element according to the pattern, required to move the coupling element into the uncoupled position while the drive element and the eccentric disc are rotating.

A drive connection for reciprocating a connecting rod from a drive shaft through an eccentric cam to manipulate a harness frame of a textile loom from one shedding position to another. The drive connection includes a pawl mounted on an eccentric cam and movable into and out of engagement in recesses in an annular drive ring only when the eccentric cam is in predetermined dwell positions. The pawl is controlled by a locking element against any change of position after it is engaged and it is continually biased in the direction of engagement. An actuating lever mounted on the connecting rod actuates the locking element to cause disengagement of the pawl from the drive ring recess. The actuating lever is controlled by an operating member that operates according to a predetermined program, and the actuating lever is prevented from actuation by blocking members that are spaced to allow actuation only at a dwell position.

A rotary dobby includes a drive shaft assembly, an eccentric mechanism releasably coupled to the drive shaft assembly, the eccentric mechanism including a connecting rod having a coupling joint to be connected to a shaft linkage and the eccentric mechanism including an eccentric disc carried by the connecting rod, the eccentric disc having a radially directed wedge guide formed therein, the drive shaft assembly having two diametrically opposite detent grooves formed therein, a coupling wedge, a device for shifting the coupling wedge in the wedge guide and in the detent grooves according to a pattern during a rest position of the drive shaft assembly, the eccentric disc and the connecting road, and a device for arresting the connecting rod in two rest positions thereof.

A rotary dobby for moving a shaft includes a connecting rod connected to the shaft to be moved, the connecting rod having two mutually-opposite wedge detents disposed thereon, an eccentric disk carried on the connecting rod having a wedge guide extended radially in the eccentric disk, a drive shaft assembly having at least one detent groove formed therein, a coupling wedge disposed between the drive shaft assembly and the eccentric disk, the coupling wedge having an open shifting groove formed therein, two control pieces engageable in the shifting groove, two control rods each being connected to a respective one of the control pieces and being controlled according to a given pattern for pushing one of the control pieces into the shifting groove and for pushing the coupling wedge alternately into the detent groove along the length of the wedge guide when the drive shaft assembly is not rotating and into one of the two wedge detents, and a detent device disposed on the connecting rod at and associated with the wedge detents functioning in cooperation with the eccentric disk for maintaining the connecting rod and the eccentric disk in a zero position for receiving the coupling wedge.

A rotary dobby for moving a shaft includes a connecting rod connected to the shaft to be moved, the connecting rod having two mutually-opposite wedge detents disposed thereon along a given wedge-detent diametral line, an eccentric disk carried on the connecting rod having a wedge guide extended radially in the eccentric disk, a drive shaft assembly having at least one detent groove formed therein, a coupling wedge disposed between the drive shaft assembly and the eccentric disk, the coupling wedge having an open shifting groove formed therein, two control pieces engageable in the shifting groove, two control rods each being connected to a respective one of the control pieces and being controlled according to a given pattern for pushing one of the control pieces into the shifting groove and for pushing the coupling wedge alternately into the detent groove along the length of the wedge guide when the drive shaft assembly is not rotating and into one of the two wedge detents, and an automatic zero setting device associated with the connecting rod for maintaining the connecting rod and the eccentric disk in a zero position for receiving the coupling wedge.

The invention relates to a rotary dobby having a wedge coupling between a drive shaft and an eccentric device for the harness motion, in which the wedge is displaceably supported in a radially extending recess in an eccentric disk arranged in a crank arm and can be coupled and uncoupled in accordance with a pattern in an axially extending groove of the drive shaft at two diametrically opposite coupling locations by a shift rod which is controllable in accordance with a pattern and engages by a coupling member into a groove of the wedge which is open in axial direction of the drive shaft. In order to assure a dependable coupling and uncoupling at high speeds of revolution, the wedge is locked against displacement in its coupled position by a spring-biased locking pawl on the eccentric disk and the locking pawl is displaceable by the coupling member of the shift rod into a position which permits the uncoupling of the wedge.

This invention relates to a rotation dobby having a key coupling between a drive shaft and an eccentric device for the movement of the heddles, the key being mounted under spring action in a radially extending recess in an eccentric disk arranged in a crank arm and being engageable and disengageable in accordance with a pattern into and out of an axially extending groove of the drive shaft at two diametrically opposite coupling places by means of a shift rod which can be controlled in accordance with a pattern and engages via a coupling member into a groove of the key which is open in the axial direction of the drive shaft. In order to simplify the engagement and disengagement, the key is pressed, in engaged position, by a compression spring into the groove of the drive shaft, the spring force of the spring being greater than the centrifugal force which acts on the key during revolution, two spring-loaded lock slides which receive the outer end of the disengaged key between them being provided on each crank arm at each coupling place.

Rotation dobby

A control for a wedge coupling in a dobby mechanism with a reduction gear or step-down gearing between a drive shaft and an eccentric device for the dobby movement, a coupling place, and a switching member (which member is controlled according to a pattern or design) for the movement of the wedge, the switching member being under spring tension. Two control levers for the upper and lower shed movement are provided, which control levers are under spring tension and which engage or act on the switching member and are controlled by a known needle mechanism, one of the control levers additionally cooperating with a control axle, which axle is synchronously moveable with the shaft machine. A pulse element is synchronously controlled by the eccentric device (connecting rod), by which pulse element the control end of the not to be moved control lever is blocked in its starting position.
