Provided is a data storage system for a computer network adapted to store a message. The data storage system includes a data storage unit and a processing unit. The processing unit stores message data of the message across one or more data elements of a data list entry of an auxiliary list in the data storage unit. The processing unit further stores an indexing pointer of the message across one or more indexing elements of an indexing list entry of an indexing list in the data storage unit. The indexing pointer is adapted to point to the data list entry. The indexing list entry further includes an indexing control element containing control information associated with the indexing list entry. The data list entry further includes control information associated with the data list entry.

A method for aiding resolution of a transaction for use with a transactional processing system comprising a transaction coordinator and a plurality of grouped and inter-connected resource managers, the method comprising the steps of: in response to a communications failure between the transaction coordinator and a first resource manager causing a transaction to have an in-doubt state, connecting, by the transaction coordinator, to a second resource manager; in response to the connecting step, sending by the transaction coordinator to the second resource manager, a resolve request comprising a resolution for the in-doubt transaction; in response to the resolve request, obtaining at the first resource manager, by the second resource manager, a lock to data associated with the in-doubt transaction; and in response to the obtaining step, determining, by the second resource manager, whether the transaction is associated with the first resource manager.

Aiding resolution of a transaction

Improving scalability and throughput in publish/subscribe messaging systems by allowing the spoke systems to vary the member of the hub collective that it attaches to. The scalability is improved because the spoke systems do not have to have a long lasting attachment to a specific hub system. Instead, the spoke systems can be redistributed more evenly when new spoke systems are added or removed. The throughput is increased by distributing workload and fan-out responsibilities within hub collectives. Availability is improved because single points of failure are removed. Ease of administration is also improved over a hierarchy by allowing child nodes to automatically change parent nodes if a parent node is modified or removed.

A computer implemented method, apparatus, and computer program product for determining a state associated with a transaction for use with a transactional processing system comprising a transaction coordinator and a plurality of grouped and inter-connected resource managers, the method comprising the steps of: in response to a communications failure between the transaction coordinator and a first resource manager causing a transaction to have an in doubt state, connecting to a second resource manager; in response to the connecting step, sending by the transaction coordinator to the second resource manager, a query requesting data associated with the in doubt transaction; obtaining at the first resource manager, by the second resource manager, a shared lock to data associated with the in doubt transaction; and in response to the obtaining step, collating, by the second resource manager, data associated with the in doubt transaction associated with the first resource manager.

Method for determining a state associated with a transaction

The present invention is directed to an apparatus, system, methods, and computer-program product for message delivery in a publish/subscribe network is provided. According to one embodiment of the invention, a method for message delivery in a publish/subscribe network includes defining a group of publish/subscribe engines as a subset of a set of fully connectable publish/subscribe engines, wherein the group provides a function which can be carried out by any one of the publish/subscribe engines in the group. Each of the publish/subscribe engines in the group sends a group proxy subscription including a topic, an indication of the publish/subscribe engine sending the group proxy subscription, and an indication of the group. A publish/subscribe engine outside the group sends a single publish message to one of the group of publish/subscribe engines with a group proxy subscription for a topic. If the one of the group of publish/subscribe engines to which the single publish message is being sent also has an individual proxy subscription, the publish message for the group is included in the publish message for the individual proxy subscription.
