A pointer display includes at least two pointer assemblies, each assembly having a hub and a pointer arm, each pointer arm extending outwards from a corresponding hub, the hubs being rotatable about a common axis and positioned apart from each other along an axial direction such that a first one of the hubs of a first pointer assembly is closest to a viewer of the dial display. The display also includes a cap for covering the first hub; and supporting means for supporting the cap, the supporting means including a supporting member that extends through a passage in the first hub so that the cap is supported independently of the first hub.

Pointer display

This invention relates to a carrier for holding an electric component () having a one or more electrical connection pins (), comprising a frame () for holding the component, a pin guide (), and a flexible portion () connecting the pin guide to the frame. The pin guide having one or more channels through it for receiving the electrical connection pins (). The frame having a base for mounting the carrier to a surface and the flexible portion being adapted to flex to allow the pin guide to move parallel to the connection axis () when the pin guide is pressed in a direction along the connection axis.

Component carrier

The present invention relates to illumination of an instrument for displaying information. In particular the invention relates to illumination for an instrument suitable for use in a vehicle. Such instruments, located on the dashboard of an automotive vehicle, require illumination to allow the driver to read the information when it is dark. An instrument suitable for use in a vehicle is thus provided, generally comprising a housing, an information bearing surface, a transparent protective cover having an interior surface and an exterior surface, and a first light source coupled to the protective cover. The protective cover acts as a light guide and is arranged to allow light to escape at a selected location into the interior of the instrument to illuminate a portion of the information bearing surface.

Vehicle instrument

A thin panel lit cluster including a graphics appliqu&eacute; with a first and second side and at least one opaque section and one translucent section. A light-carrying panel with a first and second side is positioned such that the first side is adjacent to the second side of the graphics appliqu&eacute;. The light-carrying panel has at least one opening defined in it and at least one light source is positioned to align with the opening. Opposite the light source, the light-carrying panel has a first light-redirecting area nearest its first side. In another position on the light-carrying panel, there is a second light-redirecting area nearest the second side of the light-carrying panel and opposite a translucent section of the graphics appliqu&eacute;.
