A transfer switch configured particularly for use with traffic signal controllers, to enable a traffic signal controller to be powered by a portable electrical generator, when utility line power is unavailable. A housing, configured to be mounted either on the surface of a traffic signal controller cabinet, or recessed into an opening of the cabinet, so as to be flush to the surface thereof, is provided. The housing is configured to be substantially weatherproof without requiring the use of gaskets.

A kit for connecting in parallel two electrical generators, including a wiring unit mounted on an attachment frame which is configured to be rigidly affixed to one of the two electrical generators. The wiring unit includes an external output receptacle, and a circuit breaker, plus hard-wired connections for receiving the power inputs from the two electrical generators being connected in parallel. The wiring unit is screwed or otherwise fastened to a preferably contoured bracket which, in turn, is screwed or otherwise fastened, preferably, to a frontal area of one of the two generators.

A switch interlock apparatus for use with switch panels that have pairs of functionally related switches, in which the handles for the switches are mounted in tandem and aligned with their pivot axes parallel to and spaced apart from one another, in which one of the switches must be flipped, before the other switch can be flipped. The switch interlock apparatus mechanically connects the handles of two functionally related switches so that as one switch moves from an 'OFF' to an 'ON' position, the interlock constrains the handle of the related paired switch to move from &#x201c;ON&#x201d; to &#x201c;OFF&#x201d; first. In a preferred embodiment, the switch interlock apparatus incorporates a monolithically formed interlock member that can be directly mounted to a switch panel without intermediate assembly steps.

An automatic transfer switch apparatus for use with a stand-alone generator, for supplying emergency power to a residence or small business. The automatic transfer switch apparatus is configured to sense a utility line failure, start up and stabilize the generator, and switch over the household circuits from the utility to the generator, and switch back when the utility recovers. A load-shedding feature is provided for shedding and restoring different circuits within the residence, that represent loads of different priority, with loads being shed and restored, according to their priority.
