A system for dispensing liquid material with different configurations of air assisted fiberization or filament movement (e.g., meltblowing, controlled fiberization). In particular, front access for mounting a selected nozzle only requires adjustment of one lever and one fastener. Features of the lever and nozzle allow assisted ejection of the nozzle, even when the nozzle has become adhered to a die body through use. In addition, a nozzle mounting surface of the die body provides a universal interface to the various types of nozzles. An air cavity in the die body and air troughs in selected types of nozzles balance and adjust air flow.

Universal dispensing system for air assisted extrusion of liquid filaments

A protective member () and a nozzle assembly () incorporating the protective member () are provided. The protective member () is for use with a nozzle () having a strand guide passageway () for receiving a strand () of material. Protective member () comprises a body () configured to be received in the strand guide passageway () of the nozzle (). The body () of the protective member () has a passageway () for the strand () and is disposed between the strand guide passageway () and the moving strand (). The body () of the protective member () is composed, at least in part, of a material having a wear resistance sufficient to resist wear caused by the strand () being guided thereby. Alternatively, a portion of the body () may be coated with a material having a wear resistance sufficient to resist wear caused by the strand ().

Protective member and nozzle assembly configured to resist wear

A hose for carrying liquid, such as hot melt adhesive, within a predetermined elevated temperature range. The hose includes a tube or body portion which has an inlet end adapted to connect to a source of liquid, such as a supply tank, and a discharge end adapted to a connect to a liquid dispensing apparatus, such as an adhesive dispensing gun. At least two temperature sensing devices, each having an output end, are also operatively associated with the tube to sense the temperature of the liquid therein. An adapter has a first end selectively connected to the output end of the first temperature sensing device. The adapter also has a second end adapted to connect to a controller which is compatible with the first temperature sensing device and not the second temperature sensing device. With the first temperature sensing device connected to the adapter, it is operative to sense the temperature of the liquid in the tube. In contrast, because the second temperature sensing device is not connected to the adapter, it is inactive and provides no temperature information concerning the liquid in the tube. The hose further includes a second adapter which is capable of replacing the first adapter.

A system for dispensing liquid material onto a moving substrate includes a liquid dispenser fluidly connected to a source of liquid material and a source of pressurized air. The liquid dispenser includes a pair of outer liquid material outlets and a plurality of inner liquid material outlets therebetween spaced along a common axis at one end of the dispenser for dispensing a plurality of strands of liquid material toward the substrate. The liquid dispenser further includes a pair of air outlets associated with each of the inner liquid material outlets and a single air outlet associated with each of the outer liquid material outlets for emitting pressurized air that is operable to oscillate the dispensed strands in directions predominantly parallel with the common axis of the liquid material outlets during flight toward the substrate to form an overlapping pattern of liquid material on the moving substrate. Methods for dispensing liquid material onto a moving substrate are also disclosed.
