The method includes receiving a first request to establish UP for a UE's PDU session and, in response to receiving the request to establish UP for the UE's PDU session, determining whether a condition is satisfied. Determining whether the condition is satisfied comprises determining if the UE is in the idle state with respect to a non-3GPP access, wherein the condition is not satisfied if the UE is not in the idle state with respect to the non-3GPP access. The method also includes initiating paging of the UE by a 3GPP access as a result of determining that the condition is satisfied.

Handling a UE that is in the idle state

A method performed by a network node, for controlling access of a first User Equipment (UE) and a second UE to a cell in a radio communications network is provided. The first UE is of a low complexity type, and wherein the second UE is of a regular type. A first association is assigned to the first UE. The first association associates the first UE with its low complexity type. A second association is assigned to the second UE. The second association associates the second UE with its regular type. The network node controls () access of the first UE and second UE by sending a rule to the first UE and second UE. The rule is related to access control that is different for UEs with different associations, for accessing to the radio communications network. The rule triggers the first UE to perform access barring check based on the first association and the obtained rule when initiating an access attempt to the cell, while the second UE performs access barring check based on the second association and the obtained rule.

Network node, user equipment and methods in a radio communications network

A method is performed by a source Central Unit (CU) in an Integrated Access and Wireless Access Backhaul (IAB) network. The method includes transmitting, by the source CU, a message requesting a handover of a plurality of migrating devices associated with a first IAB node migrating from the source CU to a target CU. A wireless device () receives, over an access stratum (), a capability enquiry () that requests the wireless device () to transmit capability information () indicating one or more capabilities of the wireless device (). After receiving the capability enquiry (), the wireless device () generates a token () using one or more input parameters () and transmits the token (). The one or more input parameters () include at least some part of the capability enquiry () and/or at least some of the capability information (). In some embodiments, the token () is generated or transmitted based on a non-access stratum security context () at the wireless device (). Protecting capability information transfer in a wireless communication network

Techniques for enhancing performance in Industrial Internet-of-Things (IIoT) scenarios, including techniques for time-sensitive networking (TSN) and 5G wireless network integration. An example method, performed by a wireless device, comprises receiving system information (SI) from a radio base station (RBS) of a radio access network (RAN), the SI being indicative of support for TSN through the RBS, and establishing at least one TSN stream with an external data network, through the RBS. The example method further includes receiving a first timing signal from the wireless communications network, via the RBS, receiving a second timing signal from the external TSN data network to which the wireless device is connected, comparing the first timing signal to the second timing signal to determine an offset, and transmitting the offset to the wireless communications network.

Industrial automation with 5G and beyond

Embodiments include methods performed by a radio access network (RAN) node of a wireless communication system. Such methods include receiving, from a wireless device via a cell, a request to resume an RRC connected state with the wireless communication network. The request includes a cause indicator that indicates mobility signaling as a cause for resuming the RRC connected state. Such methods include, based on the cause indicator, requesting an access and mobility management function (AMF) of the wireless communication system to perform a tracking area update (TAU) for the wireless device. Such methods include receiving from the AMF an indication that the TAU for the wireless device is complete and in response to the received indication, initiating an access-stratum (AS) procedure for the wireless device. Other embodiments include complementary methods for AMFs as well as RAN node and AMFs configured to perform such methods.

A method performed by a User Equipment, UE, is provided. The UE receives (s) a first message comprising a group identifier, ID, allocated for a particular multicast-broadcast services, MBS, session. While camping on radio access network, RAN, node that does not support MBS services and while being in a radio resource control, RRC, state other than RRC_CONNECTED, the UE receives (s) from the RAN node a paging message. The UE determines (s) whether the paging message comprises the group ID.

User equipment, network node and methods therein

A method for securing radio connections comprises performing a connection setup with a user equipment (UE); determine that security information is needed for the UE based on an event which triggers a need of the security information; send an indication to a second network node to request the security information for the UE; and receiving the security information from the network node via a UE context setup procedure. The method may avoid a waste of resource in network by determining whether the UE is required to set up a security procedure by either a network node of a radio access network or a management and function node of a core network.

Method, apparatus, and system for securing radio connections

A method performed by a source access node for performing data forwarding at handover of a UE from a source cell to a target cell in a wireless communications network is provided. When a criterion for data forwarding is fulfilled, the source access node obtains a trigger for downlink data forwarding. A method performed by a transmitting device, in a 3GPP wireless communicationsystem (), for handling generalized Precise Timing Protocol (gPTP) signaling, from a Time Sensitive Network (TSN) is provided. The transmitting device receives () a gPTP frame from the TSN network. The gPTP frame comprises time information, an indication of a time domain related to the time information and/or a Medium Access Control (MAC) address of a second end station connected to a receiving device. Basedon the indication of the time domain and/or the MAC address, the transmitting device determines () the receiving device which the gPTP frame relates to. The transmitting device transmits (), to the determined receiving device, the gPTP frame in a PDU session related to the determined receiving device.

Devices and methods for handling precise timing protocol frames

One aspect provides a method performed by a radio access network node in a telecommunications network. The method comprises: responsive to detection of a trigger event associated with a wireless device having a connection to the telecommunications network via the radio access network node or seeking to establish a connection to the telecommunications network via the radio access network node, transmitting a message directly to a user plane core network node providing functionality for the connection via the radio access network node, the message comprising one or more of: an indication of an identifier of the wireless device; and an indication of an identifier of a session for the wireless device. The user plane core network node has access to a data storage layer shared between a plurality of user plane core network nodes, the data storage layer storing respective contexts for the sessions of a plurality of wireless devices, including the wireless device.

A method performed by a first network node for handling a connection between a wireless device and a wireless communications network. The wireless communications network comprises the first network node. Systems and methods for session continuity of Multicast Broadcast (MB) Sessions are provided. In some embodiments, a method performed by a base station for session continuity of MB Sessions includes at least one of: providing at least one MB Session to a wireless device connected in 5G; determining that the wireless device is handed over to a target Next Generation Radio Access Network (NG-RAN); and providing session continuity of the at least one MB Session to the wireless device. In some embodiments, being handed over to the target NG-RAN comprises an Xn handover. In some embodiments, being handed over to the target NG-RAN comprises a N2 handover. Some embodiments of the current disclosure provide support for Multicast Broadcast Session continuity (aka 'Handover') at Inter-gNB Xn Handover and Inter-gNB N2 Handover in the 5G NR radio access.

Systems and methods related to core network and radio access network (RAN) interactions for a Multicast/Broadcast (MB) session are disclosed herein. In one embodiment, a method performed by an Access and Mobility Management Function (AMF) for a MB session join procedure includes receiving a MB session join request from a User Equipment (UE) via a RAN node, the MB session join request being a request to join a particular MB session. The method further includes determining that the MB session join request is permitted by a subscription of the UE, selecting a MB Session Management Function (MB-SMF) based on information included in the MB session join request, communicating with the MB-SMF to create a MB session context in the AMF and an MB session context in the MB-SMF, and sending a MB session join accept message to the UE.
