A rotator member, for example an airfoil of a rotating blade, is provided with additional stiffness in a radially outer portion of the member by including in the outer portion at least one corrugation extending generally along the width, for example chordwise, of the member.

Rotator member and method

A system and method for precisely superimposing images of computer models in three-dimensional space to a corresponding physical object in physical space. The system includes a computer for producing a computer model of a three-dimensional object. A projector means projects an image of the computer model onto the physical object. A spatial transformation accurately maps the computer model onto a projection stage at the projector which projects a formed image in a three-dimensional space onto the physical object in a one-to-one correspondence.

Projection of images of computer models in three dimensional space

A fan blade and rotor disk assembly for a gas turbine engine has a projection attached to a shank region of a fan blade. The projection makes contact with a surface region of a disk post when the fan blade is assembled to the rotor disk. In one form, a spring urges the fan blade to a position to maintain the projection in contact with the disk post surface so as to maintain the radial position of the fan blade. The projection member absorbs impact loading, shears off, allowing the blade to rotate and reduces the moment experienced by the root region of the fan blade when the fan blade is impacted by a foreign object.
