Methods, apparatus, systems, and articles of manufacture to control an aggressiveness of display panel power savings are disclosed. An example apparatus include a display panel, a display controller to adjust an image to be displayed by the display panel, and a power savings controller to access an image provided to the display controller, execute a machine learning model using the image as an input to generate an aggressiveness value, and provide the aggressiveness value to the display controller, the display controller to adjust the image based on the aggressiveness value.

Methods and apparatus to control an aggressiveness of display panel power savings and fidelity

Various embodiments are generally directed to techniques for memory access by a computer in a reduced power state, such as during video playback or connected standby. Some embodiments are particularly directed to disabling one or more memory channels during a reduced power state by mapping memory usages during the reduced power state to one of a plurality of memory channels. In one embodiment, for example, one or more low-power mode blocks in a set of functional blocks of a computer may be identified. In some such embodiments, the computer may include a processor, a memory, and first and second memory channels to communicatively couple the processor with the second memory. In many embodiments, usage of the one or more low-power mode blocks in the set of functional blocks may be mapped to a first address range associated with the first memory channel.

Methods and apparatus to improve user experience on computing devices are disclosed. An example computing device includes an image sensor. The example computing device further includes wireless communication circuitry. The example computing device also includes an operations controller to cause the wireless communication circuitry to switch between different operation modes based on an analysis of image data generated by the image sensor. Different ones of the operation modes to consume different amounts of power.

Methods and apparatus to improve user experience on computing devices

Technology for a display controller is described. The display controller can detect a frame update when the display controller is in a dynamic sleep state. The display controller can wake up from the dynamic sleep state and enter a selective update state at a programmed vertical blanking interrupt (VBI) that precedes an actual VBI. The display controller can perform a scan-out with a display panel during the selective update state. The display controller can return to the dynamic sleep state in a same time frame after the scan-out is completed. The display controller can exclude timing logic to send a VBI at every time frame to the display panel to maintain time synchronization between the display controller and the display panel.

Display pixels having integrated memory are disclosed. A disclosed example memory pixel includes a light emitter on a semiconductor substrate, memory co-located with the light emitter on the same semiconductor substrate, and a comparator in circuit with the memory, the comparator to control a flow of electrical current to the light emitter based on pixel data from the memory and timing information.

Various systems and methods for adapting a computer based on user attentiveness are described herein. A system for attention-based gesture recognition includes processing circuitry to: access an image of a user, the user proximate to a computing device; determine, based on the image, whether user is attentive to the computing device; and selectively enable or disable a function of the computing device depending on whether the user is attentive.

In one example, a head mounted display system includes at least one memory; and at least one processor to execute instructions to: detect a first position and a first view direction of a head of a user based on sensor data generated by at least one of an accelerometer, at least one camera, or a gyroscope at a first point in time; determine a latency associated with a time to cause an image to be presented on the display; determine a predicted position and a predicted view direction of the head of the user at a second point in time based on the latency; render, prior to the second point in time, the image for presentation on the display based on the predicted position and the predicted view direction of the head of the user; and cause the display to present the rendered image.

Example smart panel display apparatus and related methods are disclosed herein. An example apparatus to control a display of an electronic device includes a user presence detector to determine a presence of a user relative to the device based on image data generated by an image sensor of the device. The example apparatus includes a gaze detector to determine a direction of a gaze of the user relative to the image sensor based on the image data. The example apparatus includes a backlight manager to selectively adjust a display brightness based on the presence of the user and the direction of the gaze of the user.

Smart display panel apparatus and related methods

A lid controller hub (LCH) comprising processing components located in the lid of a mobile computing device, such as a laptop, processes sensor data generated by input sensors (microphones, cameras, touchscreen) and provides for improved and enhanced experiences over existing devices. For example, the LCH provides hardened privacy and the synchronization of touch display activities with the display refresh rate, the latter providing for a smoother and more responsive touch experience over existing designs. The LCH enables continuous gestures comprising touch gesture and in-air gesture portions as well as multi-plane gestures in which an initial touch gesture places the device into a mode or context in which it recognizes and acts upon subsequent in-air gestures. Touch operations of a mobile computing device can be based on user presence, user engagement, and a level of user interaction with the device.

Techniques for selective display frame fetching are disclosed. Some example techniques disclosed herein cause at least one processor to at least determine if an indication of a new frame includes an indication of a flip event, and identify one or more dirty regions of the new frame based on the flip event. Disclosed example techniques also cause the at least one processor to fill a display buffer with the one or more dirty regions of the new frame, scan out the one or more dirty regions of the new frame from the display buffer to a display port, and apply an adaptive contrast and backlight enhancement based on a histogram of changes in the new frame.

The processing circuitry is configured to obtain, via the interface circuitry, information on a user of the display, the information on the user indicating a presence of the user relative to the display or an engagement of the user with the display. The processing circuitry is configured to control, based on the information on the user, a display mode of the display, the display mode affecting at least one of a refresh rate and a backlight of the display.
