An article is provided having a substrate with an indicia printed on the substrate, where the indicia is printed with an ink that is detectable by in-line manufacturing production X-ray, metal, or magnetic detectors. A package for multiple such articles is also provided. A process for detecting a sanitizable substrate wipe with magnetic, metal, or X-ray detection equipment in a production setting is also provided. With process implementation article loss in a product can be detected thereby reducing precautionary product discard.

Sanitizing wipe with metal detectable printed indicia

A seamless, embossed or cast substrate is formed using a seamless sleeve having a seamless surface relief formed thereon and configured to slide over an cylindrical base in an embossing or casting assembly. The substrate is a flat web, foil, or film of, for example, paper, polyester, polypropylene, metal or other elongated flat material. The surface relief can be applied through interfering ablation, non-interfering ablation, ink jet printing, or other techniques wherein a seamless surface relief is formed onto the seamless sleeve. A method of making a seamless, embossed or cast substrate includes expanding a diameter of a seamless sleeve having a seamless surface relief formed thereon, sliding the expanded seamless sleeve onto a cylindrical base, allowing the diameter of the seamless sleeve to contract around the cylindrical base, and conveying a substrate through the embossing or casting assembly and embossing or casting the seamless surface relief into the substrate.

A reversible color-changing polymeric article includes a polymeric material and a dried reversible color-changing ink formulation durably bound to the polymeric material. During use, the polymeric article is impregnated with a sanitizer solution that contains a quaternary ammonium compound. The polymeric article reversibly changes between a first color when impregnated with the sanitizer solution and a second color when the sanitizer solution is depleted during use.

Reversible color-changing ink formulations and nonwoven wipes

A reversible color-changing ink formulation, and a nonwoven wipe to which the ink formulation is securely bound, are provided. The reversible color-changing ink formulation includes about 55-98% by weight of a polymer binder, about 0.1-20% by weight of a reversible color-changing dye that reversibly changes between a first color and a second color at a pH of about 5.5 to about 8.0, and optional amounts of plasticizer, inorganic particulate filler, and color brightener. During use, the nonwoven wipe is impregnated with a sanitizer solution that contains a quaternary ammonium compound. The nonwoven wipe reversibly changes between a first color when impregnated with the sanitizer solution and a second color when the sanitizer solution is depleted during use. The change to the second color indicates the need to recharge the nonwoven wipe with the sanitizer solution, whereupon the first color returns.

A double layer capacitor (DLC) containing at least one double layer capacitor cell is provided. Each double layer capacitor cell contains two current collectors, each containing a metallized carrier film with upper and lower planar surfaces, two thin electrode layers in direct contact with the lower and upper planar surfaces of the metallized carrier films of the first and second current collectors, and a polymer electrolyte layer in direct contact with the first and the second thin electrode layers. The polymer electrolyte is applied as a liquid which impregnates and encases the electrode layers and then solidified to form the electrolyte layer. The resulting DLC is preferably no thicker than about 20 microns, and may be as thin as 5 microns. Methods of producing a DLC and for forming a cross-linked electrolyte are also provided.
