System and method for selectively caching hot content in a content delivery system

A method includes receiving a request for content from a client, and determining an elapsed time since a previous request for the content. Additionally, the method includes retrieving the content from a content server and storing the content in a cache when the elapsed time since the previous request for the content is not greater than a threshold. Further, the method includes providing the content to the client. The method also includes determining a cache-hit ratio and altering a threshold in response to the cache-hit ratio.

A system and method for identifying computer system performance signatures and for identifying the cause of undesirable performance signatures, particularly with respect to both application-based and computer system-based parameters. Respective parametric information data is matched with corresponding parameters found in a stored plurality of reference signatures. If a match is found between the behavior of a computer system under study and a reference signature, the present invention provides information about the cause(s) of the reference signature, such that appropriate remedial measures can be taken. System and method for diagnosing computer system operational behavior

A method and apparatus for modeling a web server is described. The web server is modeled by identifying a plurality of sub-systems for the server. Each sub-system is represented as a queue, with each queue operably coupled to one another. An arrival rate and a service time is iteratively adjusted for each queue to account for performance by the other queues.
