Systems and techniques for operating cooling system assemblies in a vehicle are discussed herein. The vehicle may receive a direction of travel and a speed. The vehicle may determine based on the direction of travel a leading cooling system assembly at a first end of the vehicle and a trailing cooling system assembly at a second end of the vehicle. The vehicle may determine, based on the direction of travel of the vehicle and/or whether the speed meets or exceeds a threshold speed, an action associated with the leading cooling system assembly and/or the trailing cooling system assembly and may perform the action.

Cooling system assembly for bidirectional vehicle

Techniques for providing heat load balancing in an autonomous bi-directional vehicle utilize a first coolant loop thermally coupled to a first drive motor and a first end of the autonomous bi-directional vehicle and a second coolant loop thermally coupled to a second drive motor and a second end of the autonomous bi-directional vehicle to exchange thermal energy. A conduit thermally couples the first coolant loop with the second coolant loop to allow transfer of the coolant in between. A controller is usable to increase an amount of thermal energy transferred between the first coolant loop and the second coolant loop based at least in part on a direction of travel of the autonomous bi-directional vehicle.

Heat load balancing in vehicles

There is provided a method comprising: determining an occupancy status of a first region of a vehicle; determining, based at least in part on the occupancy status, a first climate control setting for the first region; controlling a climate control system of the vehicle to adjust a climate of the first region according to the first climate control setting; determining that a second region of the vehicle is unoccupied, wherein the second region is fluidly connected to the first region; determining a second climate control setting, wherein the second climate control setting is based at least in part on the occupancy status of the first region and characteristic data associated with a predicted potential change in occupancy status for the second region; and controlling the climate control system to adjust a climate of the second region according to the second climate control setting.

Efficient climate control for multi-user autonomous vehicles

A heating ventilation and air conditioning (HVAC) system may effectively provide and/or substantially maintain adjacent thermal zones that have different temperatures and/or humidities from one another. The HVAC system may include a duct network including zonal ducts each having a zonal duct exit configured to create aerodynamic profiles that result in a thermal zone. A thermal zone may be characterized by a volume having a temperature and/or humidity which may differ from an adjacent thermal zone, such that a temperature and/or humidity gradient exists at a thermal zone boundary between adjacent thermal zones, and such that diffusion of the temperature and/or humidity between the adjacent thermal zones is aerodynamically inhibited, or otherwise minimized.
