A fastener system for securing a component to a structure is provided. The system includes a pin portion and a clip portion. The pin portion has a head and a shaft. The clip portion has a head engagement flange and a retainer flange configured to receive a fastener that extends along a first axis. The clip portion and the pin portion are configured for engagement with one another in an engaged position, and in the engaged position the pin portion shaft extends along a second axis non-parallel to the first axis.

Fastener system

Tracks (), fastened to static structure of an aircraft engine nozzle, guide sliders () journaled in struts () fastened to a flap () of the nozzle. Each slider and attached journal axle or bolt () is formed of cobalt, and each track slider surface () and journal bushings () are formed of a nickel alloy to reduce wear from rubbing. Track slides () are mounted to the static structure of the nozzle by blind bolts () having a tool recess () at its threaded tip to prevent the bolt () from turning as a nut is secured. Each slider has limited rotation due to a pin (), thereon engaging a slot in a tab () of the bushing () to assist in inserting the slider () into the beveled ends of the tracks (), when mounting or replacing a flap.

Sliding nozzle flap assembly

A method includes providing an exhaust liner as a first duct, providing a second duct having an opening therein, and spacing the first duct radially inward of the second duct. A spring connects the first and second ducts together and has first and second ends. A first mount comprises a first bracket portion associated with the spring and a second bracket portion directly fixed to the first duct. The first bracket portion is directly fixed to the first end of the spring and the second end of the spring is fixed to a second mount that comprises a casing plate having an area greater than the opening. The first end of the spring and the first bracket portion are inserted through the opening and the first bracket portion is attached to the second bracket portion. The casing plate is directly fixed to a radially outward facing surface of the second duct.

Coil spring hanger for exhaust duct liner

A hanger assembly for use between a first duct and a second duct having an opening therein includes a spring having a first end and a second end, a first mount for attaching the first end to the first duct, a second mount for attaching the second end to the second duct, the second mount having an area greater than the opening, and a central aperture therethrough.

A hanger is disclosed that has a movable component and a bracket. The movable component has a shaft with a threaded portion, a slider connected to the shaft, and a cap configured to join with the threaded portion. The bracket defines a racetrack aperture and an ingress/egress aperture. The racetrack aperture and the ingress/egress aperture are connected.

Exhaust duct liner rod hanger

A multi axis slide carriage system includes a channeled track, a slide, a shaft and a slide carriage bracket. The channeled track extends along a first axis. The slider slides along the first axis within the channeled track, and includes a slider segment aperture extending therein along a second axis. The shaft includes a slider segment connected to a carriage bracket segment. The slider segment slides along the second axis within the slider segment aperture. The slide carriage bracket is positioned adjacent to the channeled track, and is connected to the carriage bracket segment.

A hanger assembly for use between a first duct and a second duct has a flexible leaf spring having a body and a leg, a locking member for attaching the leg to the first duct, and a mounting member for attaching the body to the second duct.

Leaf spring hanger for exhaust duct liner

A gas turbine engine has the convergent flaps and seals of an adjustable cross-sectional area nozzle connected to associated liners with a thermally compliant bracket. The bracket includes spaced feet with an intermediate notch spaced away from the liner. In this manner, a temperature gradient along the liner can be easily compensated at the connection of the bracket to the liner by adjustment within the notch. In other features, the bracket is riveted to the liner, providing further resistance to thermal expansion due to temperature gradiations.

Gas turbine engine nozzle liner with thermally compliant attachment brackets

A convergent/divergent nozzle for a gas turbine engine includes liners that are attached to the convergent flaps and seals. The liner is formed of two separate plates. By splitting the liner into two separate plates, a thermal break is provided between the two. Thermal stresses on a downstream plate are not as readily transferred to an upstream plate. External stresses on the upstream plate are not transferred as readily to the downstream plate. The two liner plate portions, and a separate backing plate all have faces that abut and are riveted together. These faces provide a flow blocker to maintain a lower pressure downstream of the flow blocker.
