The present invention relates to non-surfactant active containing delivery particles, cleaning compositions comprising said particles, and processes for making and using the aforementioned particles and cleaning compositions. When employed in cleaning compositions, such particles provide more uniform active delivery. Thus, resulting in improved cleaning performance without the increased cleaning negatives that may be associated with higher levels of certain active levels.

The present invention relates to a substrate composition comprising from about 20 wt % to about 60 wt % of a water-soluble and/or water-dispersible polymer and from about 20 wt % to about 80 wt % of a water-soluble inorganic salt. The substrate composition of the present invention has a median particle size of from about 1 micrometer to about 100 micrometers and comprises less than about 10 wt % of water-insoluble material.

Process for making a granular detergent composition having improved solubility

A process for preparing a detergent particle having a coating layer of a water-soluble material is provided. The process comprises providing a particle core of a detergent active material and the particle core is then at least partially covered by a particle coating layer of a water soluble coating material including double salt combinations of alkali metal carbonates and sulfates that reduces the surface area of the particle.

Process for preparing detergent particles having coating or partial coating layers

A process for preparing coated detergent granules in a fluidized bed. The fluidized bed is operated at a flux number of at least about 4 and at a Stokes Number of 10 to about 1000 using a coating solution or slurry having a viscosity from about 300 to about 100,000 centipoise, measured at 60&#xb0; C. Upon drying, the resultant detergent particles have improved appearance and flow properties and may be packaged and sold as a detergent material or mixed with various other detergent ingredients to provide a fully formulated detergent composition.

Process for coating detergent granules in a fluidized bed

A process for preparing detergent particles having a coating layer of a water-soluble inorganic material is provided. The detergent particle comprises a particle core of a detergent active material. This particle core is then at least partially covered by a particle coating layer of a water soluble inorganic material. Particularly preferred are non-hydratable inorganic coating materials including double salt combinations of alkali metal carbonates and sulfates. The particle coating layer may also include detergent adjunct ingredients such as brighteners, chelants, nonionic surfactants, co-builders, etc. The process includes the steps of passing the particle core through a coating mixer such as a low speed mixer or fluid bed mixer and coating the particle core with a coating solution or slurry of the water soluble inorganic material. Upon drying, the resultant detergent particles have improved appearance and flow properties and may be packaged and sold as a detergent material or mixed with various other detergent ingredients to provide a fully formulated detergent composition.

Process for producing coated detergent particles

A continuous process for preparing granular detergent composition including a first step of dry neutralizing an acid precursor of an anionic surfactant with a particulate water-soluble alkaline material in a high speed mixer for a mean residence time of about 0.2 to about 50 seconds, thereby partly or totally neutralizing the acid precursor and producing a dry neutralized material containing the anionic surfactant, in the form of a free-flowing powder; and a second stop of agglomerating the free-flowing powder into a detergent agglomerate using an agglomeration binder. The agglomeration binder is preferably a viscous surfactant paste binder. The resulting agglomerates are dry, free-flowing, and have a substantially more narrow particle size distribution, compared to the free-flowing powder, with reduced fine particles and over-sized particles that generally are recycled.

Continuous process for making detergent composition

A process for preparing coated detergent granules in a fluidized bed is provided. The fluidized bed is operated at a flux number of at least about 3.5 and/or a Stokes Number of greater than 1.0. Upon drying, the resultant detergent particles have improved appearance and flow properties and may be packaged and sold as a detergent material or mixed with various other detergent ingredients to provide a fully formulated detergent composition.

A detergent granule and tablets which comprises an anionic surfactant system which comprises an anionic sulphate surfactant and/or an anionic sulphonate surfactant and other detergent active ingredients, the granule comprising at least a first and a second particulate component and optionally a binding agent, characterised in that the ratio of anionic sulphate surfactant to anionic sulphonate surfactant in the particulate components and in the optional binding agent is less than 1:4 or more than 4:1, preferably even less than 1:5 or more than 5:1. The invention also relates to specific granules comprising restricted degree of mixing of anionic sulphonate surfactant and zeolite, anionic sulphate surfactant and carbonate salts and/or restricted degree of mixing of polymeric builder and anionic surfactant, in particular sulphate surfactants.

Detergent granules

A process is provided for producing high-active detergent agglomerates through multi-stage surfactant paste injection. According to the process, starting detergent materials are mixed with an initial amount of surfactant paste and then allowed to age for a specified period of time. Following the initial paste injection and aging period, additional amounts of surfactant paste are injected incrementally to make a final detergent agglomerate having at least about 45% by weight of surfactant.

Process for making high-active detergent agglomerates by multi-stage surfactant paste injection

Detergent compositions contain sticky particles with at least 45% by weight of a sticky surfactant and non-sticky particles with less than about 1% by weight of sticky surfactant. The particles are further characterized by their size ranges and bulk densities. Compositions containing potassium ions are described. Dissolution of the compositions in aqueous media is optimized.

Granular compositions having improved dissolution

A process for preparing low density detergent agglomerates is provided. The process involves the step of: (a) agglomerating a detergent surfactant paste or precursor thereof and dry starting detergent material having a median particle size in a range from about 5 microns to about 70 microns in a first high speed mixer to obtain detergent agglomerates having a median particle size of from about 100 microns to about 250 microns; (b) mixing the detergent agglomerates with a binder in a second high speed mixer to obtain built-up agglomerates having a median particle size in a range of from 140 microns to about 350 microns; and (c) feeding the built-up agglomerates into a fluid bed dryer in which the built-up agglomerates are agglomerated with another binder and dried to form detergent agglomerates having a median particle size in a range from about 300 microns to about 700 microns and a density in a range from about 300 g/l to about 550 g/l.
