In an aspect, vehicle parameters that describe the current operation of the vehicle are compared to profile parameters of a driver. If the vehicle parameters are not within the operational limits defined by the profile parameters, an out of profile parameter process is performed. The out of profile parameter process includes wirelessly sending a violation report to an administrator device.

Methods, systems and apparatus for vehicle and communication monitoring. In an aspect, a vehicle device comprising a processing subsystem, a communication subsystem that communicates over a wireless medium, and a memory subsystem that stores processing instructions that are executable by the processing subsystem and upon such execution cause the vehicle device to perform operations comprising: determining an operational status of a vehicle in which the vehicle device is located; receiving, from a communication device, operating data describing an operation being performed by the communication device; accessing usage policy data that describes a usage policy of the communication device during vehicle operation; and in response to determining, based on the operational status of the vehicle and the operation being performed by the communication device, that a usage policy violation has occurred, generating policy violation data describing the usage policy violation.

Vehicle and communication monitoring

Methods and compositions for improving the extraction of phenols from crude styrene using an aqueous caustic solution are disclosed. It has been discovered that aromatic or alkylammonium tailed multi-polyether headed surfactants and/or quaternary polyamines will improve this extraction, particularly in propylene oxide styrene monomer systems.

Styrene caustic wash extraction aid

A method for removing corrosive inorganic cations--such as calcium magnesium cations--from a crude oil stream by mixing the stream with a softened brine wash water that has been softened by removal or replacement of precipitating divalent or trivalent cations with non-precipitating cations. The crude oil stream and the wash water are mixed at a temperature from about 98.degree. C. to about 150.degree. C. to form an emulsion wherein the corrosive inorganic cations are transferred from the crude oil to the wash water, The emulsion is then broken to form a crude oil fraction and an aqueous fraction containing at least a portion of the corrosive inorganic cations from the crude oil. This method is particularly useful in areas where freshwater is not readily available.

Softened brine treatment of crude oil

Disclosed are methods for improving the separation of resins and asphaltenes from each other and a base residuum during alkane deasphalting by adding a phase separation accelerator to the residuum. The phase separation accelerators include alkyl and alkylaryl alkoxylates, alkylaryl sulfonates, and hetero-atom punctuated fatty polymers.

Disclosed are methods and compositions for inhibiting corrosion in the overhead of a crude unit distillation tower by washing the crude oil with water containing a hydrophilic, polymeric, nitrogenous base, a di- or multivalent metallic base, or a combination of a multi-polyether-headed surfactant and a monovalent metallic base. In another embodiment, a hydrophobic, nitrogenous base is added directly to the crude oil then washed with water.

A method for inhibiting foam formation in a stripper of an amine unit is disclosed. The addition of non-foaming demulsifiers to the liquid, compressed hydrocarbon stream entering or the aqueous organic amine stream entering or exiting an absorber of an amine unit effectively inhibits foam formation in the amine unit stripper. Foam formation in the stripper is inhibited by controlling the entrainment of hydrocarbon in the alkaline amine stream entering the stripper through demulsification treatment in the absorber.

Methods of inhibiting foam formation in alkanolamine systems

Methods and compositions for breaking oil and water emulsions are disclosed. Oil and water emulsions are broken by treating the emulsion with a copolymer of tannin and a cationic monomer. The preferred composition is an aqueous solution of a copolymer of tannin and a cationic monomer, a water soluble organic multivalent salt and a glycol. The preferred salt is aluminum chlorohydrate and the preferred glycol is hexylene glycol.

Methods for inhibiting foam in crude oil or its fractions undergoing processing are disclosed. Low molecular weight polyisobutylene, preferably of about 320 daltons, is added to the crude oil or fraction experiencing foaming.

Compositions of an non-alkkoxylated alkylphenol-formaldehyde resin and poly(alkylene glycol) are effective at breaking water-in-oil emulsions in a liquid hydrocarbon. Preferably, the composition is employed in a crude oil desalting system.
