A torque converter with a clutch mechanism in combination wherein an axially movable sheave is movable toward and away from an opposed fixed sheave, the sheaves accomodating a belt therebetween, the movable sheave being movable in accordance with movement of a centrifugal speed responsive device adjacent the movable sheave to vary the effective pitch diameter of the pair of sheaves having their opposed faces engageable by the belt, and in which a clutch mechanism axially aligned with and mounted on the torque converter is actuatable to move the movable sheave from a non-driving position wherein the belt is not in driving engagement with the sheaves to a driving position wherein the belt is in driving engagement with the sheaves, the sheaves being resiliently biased axially apart and the clutch mechanism being resiliently biased away from the movable sheave.

Combined torque converter and clutch

A brake and clutch mechanism for a rotary type lawn mower or the like in which first friction element (25) carried by a rotor member (24) is rotatable with the working element or blade (14) and is resiliently urged by springs (26) into clutching engagement with a clutch member (27) rotated by the driving shaft (13) of the mower, and in which second friction elements (32) are resiliently urged radially outward by springs (36) into braking engagement with a braking surface (24A) of said rotor member (24).

Brake and clutch mechanism

A device for transferring air from the upper region of a room through an open doorway to the exterior of that room, such as to an adjacent room. The device includes an open-ended casing or conduit (15) mounted upright to a wall of the room just above a doorway (12), an electric fan (21) mounted in the casing or conduit (15) to draw air downwardly into and through the casing or conduit (15), and a hinged chute (16) positioned at the bottom of the casing or conduit (15) which, when declined downwardly, deflects such downwardly moving air out through the open doorway (12) to the exterior of the room.
