Methods and systems are provided for aligning devices separated by physical barriers. A first electronic device may be paired with a second electronic device, with the first electronic device and the second electronic device being on opposite sides of a physical barrier. Wireless communication of signals between the first electronic device and the second electronic device may then be configured to nullify or reduce signals in areas other than a region within the barrier between a signal transmission component of the first electronic device and a signal reception component of the second electronic device. Feedback for enabling aligning the first electronic device with the second electronic device may be provided, such as to user of one or both of the first electronic device and the second electronic device. Providing the feedback may include generating visual and/or audio cues to enable the aligning.

Method and system for providing an antenna that is optimized for near-field-communication (NFC) and reduces the effect of far-field- communication (FFC)

Aspects of methods and systems for frequency multiplexing suitable for Data Over Cable Service Interface Specification (DOCSIS) are provided. A system for multiplexing signals according to frequency comprises a DOCSIS port interface, an upstream interface, a downstream interface, and a circulator subsystem. The DOCSIS port interface comprises a plurality of channel filters. The upstream interface is operably coupled to a first channel filter of the plurality of channel filters, and the downstream interface is operably coupled to a second channel filter of the plurality of channel filters. The circulator subsystem is able to direct a first signal from the upstream interface to the DOCSIS port interface and is able to direct a second signal from the DOCSIS port interface to the downstream interface.

Method and system for multiplexing DOCSIS signals

Methods and systems for winding transformers to maximize symmetry of the primary and secondary coils may comprise a transformer with a primary coil and a secondary coil. A first portion of the transformer has at least one turn around a core, and includes twisted pair sections of the primary coil and secondary coil. A second portion of the transformer may include a fractional turn extension of only the primary coil at one end of the first portion, and a third portion of the transformer may include a fractional turn extension of only the secondary coil at an opposite end of the first portion, where the fractional turn extensions area equal in length. A center tap may be coupled to the first portion of the transformer, which may be a balun. The transformer may comprise an off-chip transformer that includes wires wound around a magnetic core.

A communication system may include a first broadband device and a second broadband device. Signals may be wirelessly communicated from the first broadband device to the second broadband device at a power level that is below a spurious emissions mask. The communicated signals may be transmitted over a designated frequency band. A barrier separates the first broadband device from the second broadband device. The first broadband device may be paired with the second broadband device, and the signals may be wirelessly communicated from the first to the second broadband device. The signals may be communicated using signal emitting/receiving components, which may be jointly configured to optimize near-field communication while nullifying or substantially reducing signaling in other ranges, particularly far-field or intermediate-field ranges. The signal emitting/receiving components may comprise dipole or coil antennas, with the desired optimization and nullification being achieved based on controlling of electromagnetic fields.

A multi-service antenna may comprise: a support structure, a reflector mounted to the support structure, a signal processing assembly mounted with the support structure, a first wire strung between the reflector and the support structure and/or the signal processing assembly, and circuitry for processing a first signal received as a result of electromagnetic radiation (e.g., terrestrial television and/or cellular signals) incident on the first wire. The circuitry for processing the first signal may be housed in the signal processing assembly. A second wire may also be strung between the reflector and the support structure and/or the signal processing assembly, and the circuitry may be operable to perform diversity processing of signals received via the two wires.

Method and system for multi-service reception

A receiver includes a mixer, a filter, a received signal strength indicator, and a control loop. The mixer is adapted to convert the frequency of a received signal. The filter is adapted to filter out undesired signals that may be present in the output signal of the mixer. The received signal strength indicator is adapted to detect blocker (also known as jammer) signals that may be present in the output signal of the low-pass filter and generate a feedback signal in response. The control loop is adapted to vary its bandwidth in response to the feedback signal of the received signal strength indicator. The control loop supplies an oscillating signal to the mixer.

An on-chip antenna switching scheme for Gigahertz frequencies where for the transmission path a first on-chip switching means is coupled between an on-chip power amplifier and an antenna. In the receiving path a second on-chip switching means at an input to an on-chip low noise amplifier (LNA) connects to ground. Coupled off-chip between the first switching means and antenna and antenna and the second switching means are impedance matching means and a half and a quarter wavelength line, respectively. In transmission mode both switching means are closed, in receiving mode both switching means are open. This allows for optimal transmission of the signal in either direction.

In a multiple stage transmitter, and analog signal is modulated and mixed to produce a radio frequency output. A separate mixing frequency signal is provided to each stage. A single frequency synthesizer is used rather than a plurality of frequency synthesizers. In a two-stage system, first and second dividers each receive the output of the frequency synthesizer and deliver a mixing signal to the first and second stages respectively. The modulus of each divider may be selected to minimize spurious signals.

The present invention provides a ninety degree coupler for a frequency range of 100 mHz to gigaHertz ranges and including a minimum number of components employing a four port device which receives an input signal and splits it between a transformer coil and another reactor and couples it to another port and splits it between the transformer and a capacitor, then cross-connecting to a capacitor where phase shift is created by the inductors and capacitors resulting in phase shift between the signal ports remaining at 90 degrees over a wide frequency band.
