A scale and scanner system includes a controller to control operation of the scale and scanner system. A scale calibration parameter memory for storing scale calibration parameters is coupleable to the controller. A scanning module and a scale module are coupleable to the controller. When the controller is not coupled to the scanning module or scale module, the scale calibration parameter memory remains in the system.

An imaging system includes a camera having a field of view, a set of axially spaced moveable mirrors supported on a rotor to rotate the mirrors within the field of view of the camera, and a set of stationary mirrors supported to redirect the fields of view from the set of moveable mirrors to provide multiple fields of view at different angles.

Methods and apparatus for positioning an optical code for imaging scanning

A low profile tri-aperture optical code scanner and operating method are presented. The scanner includes three scanning apertures and a front and a rear low profile housing component. Each housing component includes a scanning aperture tilted toward a point about the center of the scanner. A third scanning aperture is located in a horizontal top surface of the scanner. The low profile housing elements allow an operator to scan items by standing either on the front side or the rear side of the scanner. When used in a convertible point of sale terminal, a cashier operates the scanner from the front side of the scanner when the terminal is in the assisted mode and a customer operates the scanner from the rear side of the scanner when the terminal is in the self-service mode.

An example convertible barcode reader includes a first housing portion including a first barcode reader engine, and a second housing portion including a second barcode reader engine. Improved systems and techniques for imaging bar code processing. One or more cameras are deployed in a bar code scanner, oriented so that an imaging device of each camera is oriented such that rows of data elements in the imaging device are oriented nonorthogonally with respect to a preferred orientation of a bar code. One or more imaging devices captures bar code data representing light and dark spaces of the bar code. The captured bar code data is analyzed to create one or more rows of data completely transecting the bar code, and the rows of data are processed to generate a scan signal which is in turn processed to extract bar code data.

Methods and apparatus for imaging bar code scanning

Systems and techniques for multiple laser and multiple detector bar code scanning. multiple laser sources generate multiple laser beams directed to a rotating spinner and along optical paths to emerge from a scanner as multiple scan beams. The scan beams trace out a scan pattern within a scan volume. As the multiple scan beams strike an object within the scan volume, reflected light rays are produced representing reflections of the multiple scan beams. As the reflected light rays enter the scanner, they are directed to a collector and focused onto a plurality of detectors so that reflected light rays representing reflections of each scan beam are focused onto a detector associated with the laser source from which the scan beam originates.

Methods and apparatus for generating and decoding scan patterns using multiple laser sources

A dual aperture optical scanner which produces horizontal, vertical, and diagonal scan patterns. The optical scanner includes a housing having a substantially vertical surface containing a first aperture and a substantially horizontal surface containing a second aperture. A laser diode produces a laser beam. A spinner produces first, second, and third groups of scanning beams. A plurality of pattern mirrors reflects the first group of scanning beams in a substantially horizontal direction through the first aperture, the second group of scanning beams in a substantially downward diagonal direction through the first aperture, and the third group of scanning beams in a substantially vertical direction through the second aperture.
