A powered stapler mechanism with a pivotal head mounted in a housing comprised of an upper portion and a lower portion including a lower floor and upstand structure to which the mechanism is anchored. The pivotal head is raised by cam means during the stapler cycle and the housing portions are lockable together using an axle and a slide lock.

An anvil unit for guiding and clinching staples as driven downwardly in a vertical plane in which each staple leg is guided into a guide means in the unit, each guide means lies at an angle to such vertical plane. Communicating with forming a part of each guide means is a slot, at an angle to the vertical plane, with a swingable wing thereon for clinching the staple legs after each has penetrated the workpiece.

Motorized stapler

A mechanism for releasing for unjamming purposes the sheath positioned adjacent and urged against a stapler housing by a spring. The sheath includes round apertures having rotatable members mounted therein with the rotatable members carrying the spring offset so that when the rotatable members are rotated through crank means the spring is urged in a direction to move the sheath to a position to facilitate unjamming the stapler.

A low-electric-current-demand stapler is disclosed. The stapler has a frame upon which is mounted a fastener driver mechanism including a fastener driving blade and drive unit, a blade drive-control unit including spaced-apart frame pieces mounted on the frame, a rotary driven wheel mounted on the drive-control unit, and an electric motor powered transmission apparatus for transmitting the rotary motion of the motor to the driven wheel.

A hand-held plier type stapler having a first rearward handle to which an anvil is pivotally mounted. The first handle provides a housing for a belt stapler head for forming and driving staples. A second forward handle is connected to the anvil to pull the anvil down as the second handle is moved down and rearward and as such movement continues a link mechanism operates the stapler head to form and drive a staple.

Cartridge plier stapler

A small desk type stapler having a pivoted cover frame and magazine is disclosed. The magazine has a magazine slide which is retracted upon pivoting the cover frame to the open position. The slide is retracted to a position where it interconnects with a portion of the cover frame and holds the cover frame in the open position, allowing staple loading.

A hand-held plier type stapler is disclosed. The stapler has a first handle to which an anvil is pivotally mounted. The first handle also houses a stapler head for forming and driving staples. A second handle is rotatably mounted to the first handle. Movement of the second handle moves the anvil towards a workpiece to be stapled and drives the stapler head to form and drive a staple.

A portable fastener driving tool (10) having a raceway (26) with driver blade (21, 60) reciprocating therein from a retracted position to a fastener-driven position for driving fastener (33, 61) seriatim from a fastenerstick (19, 62) positioned at an angle to the raceway. The first-to-be-driven fastener (33, 61), while attached to the stick (19, 62), is positioned in raceway (26) so that descending blade (21, 60) serves to orient the fastener (33, 61) to a position substantially parallel to the raceway (26) for driving down and out the raceway into the workpiece. Ramp means (37, 46) which form part of tool exit opening (38) re-orients fastener (33) as necessary and guides it during its exit. The fastenerstick (19, 62) may be supported in raceway (26) by detent stud means (29, 31) which retract from the raceway (26) when staple (33, 61) descends.

A staple forming and driving tool (10) employing a vertical front portion of a staple head base (34), and sheath (40) to provide a space for reciprocating former member (70) and driver (80). Spring (50) urges base (34) toward sheath (40) with spacer lugs (33) maintaining a defined distant between base (34) and sheath (40). A belt (94) is fed through an opening (100) in base (34) by a cartridge (90) which protrudes into opening (100) and belt advancing means (104, 112) is held inoperative by forming tang (75) during a portion of the forming and driving stroke to prevent movement of staple wire (200) during critical periods of such stroke. The former (70) is moved during the forming and driving stroke through a path which permits former lugs (72) to guide the former staple down to a point adjacent the workpiece (300).

Method of forming and driving staples

A relatively small desk-type stapler is disclosed which both forms and drives the staple from a belt of staple blanks retained in a removable cartridge. The stapler includes a driver, a former positioned to be driven by the driver, a former block and a sheath, all of which ports are held to a stationary stapler head by means of a single spring. Power to drive and form the staple may be provided by an electric solenoid. A simple anti-jam means is provided by the interaction ofthe driver, the former, the former block, the sheath and the stapler head.

A staple forming and driving tool (10) employing a vertical front portion of a staple head base (34), and sheath (40) to provide a space for the reciprocating former member (70) and a driver (80). A spring (50) urges base (34) and the sheath (40) together with spacer lugs (33) maintaining a defined distance between the base (34) and the sheath (40). A belt of staple blanks is fed through an opening (100) in the base (34) by a cartridge. The cartridge extends into the opening (100). A belt advancing means (104, 112) is provided which is held in an inoperative position by the forming tang (75) during a portion of the forming and driving stroke in order to prevent movement of a staple wire (200) during critical portions of the forming and driving stroke. The former (70) is moved during the forming and driving stroke through a path which permits former lugs (72) to guide the formed staple down to a point adjacent the workpiece.
