A door lock with integrated door position sensor includes rectangular magnets positioned behind the door strike to maximize magnetic field strength in available space limited by industry-standard dimensions for the door strike. A beveled or stepped mounting opening for the sensor is formed in a front plate of the door lock and behind a non-magnetic faceplate. The shape of the mounting opening allows the magnetic field to penetrate deeply through the faceplate and front plate to actuate the door position sensor. The sensor may be used in mortise locks or bored locks. In an alternative embodiment, the sensor is spring mounted to eliminate all mounting tolerances and ensure that the sensor is maximally forward and flush against the back of the non-magnetic faceplate.

A delayed egress exit push rail system for a door has a push rail movable relative to a housing between a home position and a second position to open the door, a sensor for determining the position of the push rail as the push rail moves between the home position and the second position and a controller connected to the sensor. The sensor detects a current position of the push rail in the home position and the controller determines if the current position of the push rail detected by the sensor is within a predetermined acceptable range of positions relative to the home position. If the controller determines that the current position of the push rail is outside of the predetermined range, the controller unlocks the door for immediate egress, relays an error message via light or sound and/or communicates with a remote monitoring device.

A motorized locking mechanism for locking and unlocking a device having a hub rotatable by a handle about a hub axis. A reversible motor turns a threaded spring screw to move a locking spring and vertically drive a connecting arm between locked and unlocked positions. A locking slide is mounted on the connecting arm and pivots parallel to the hub axis. The parallel pivoting motion of the locking slide protects the locking mechanism against damage. If the locking slide is temporarily prevented from moving into or out of locking engagement with the hub, the motor may still turn and the locking spring subsequently moves the locking slide in the desired direction without the necessity of reactivating the motor.

A handle support mechanism is designed for attachment to a door lock, preferably the exterior of a mortise lock, that has two handles driven back to an initial position with a common return spring after either handle is used. The support mechanism prevents the unused handle from drooping or rotating when the common return spring is compressed as the opposite handle is turned. The support mechanism includes first and second friction discs trapped between the exterior of the mortise lock and the legs of a U-shaped spring bracket. The spring bracket applies an inward spring pressure to prevent a friction disc and its corresponding handle from turning when the other handle is in use. The handle support mechanism improves visual appearance and is particularly suitable for retrofit installations, lever handle designs and mortise locks with independent switch sensors on the two handles that notify a monitoring system as to which handle was turned to open a monitored door.

A lock assembly comprising a casing, a lever rotatably attached to the casing, the lever having a spindle attached thereto, a motor secured to the casing, the motor having a shaft, a substantially cylindrical member attached to the motor shaft and having a helically extending groove, and an interfering member threadedly and non-rotatably engaged with the helically extending groove of the cylindrical member. The interfering member moves between a locked position and an unlocked position. The interfering member moves into the locked position to prevent rotation of the lever when the motor shaft rotates in one direction. The interfering member moves into the unlocked position to allow rotation of the lever when the motor shaft rotates in an opposite direction.
