Disclosed herein are connection apparatus for connecting breathing gas delivery components of a breathing apparatus. The connection apparatus comprises a male connector configured to be received in a corresponding female port, the male connector comprising a perimeter wall defining an external shape of the male connector. In some examples, the male connector defines an insertion axis along which the male connector is receivable into a corresponding female port, and a distal edge of the perimeter wall defines a distal face of the perimeter wall and at least a portion of the distal face is inclined with respect to the insertion axis of the male connector. In some examples, the perimeter wall comprises first and second wall portions which taper together such that a first edge of the first wall portion and a first edge of the second wall portion are connected at an apex portion.

Connection apparatus for breathing apparatus

There is disclosed a connection apparatus for connecting breathing gas delivery components of a breathing apparatus, comprising: a male connector configured to be received in a corresponding female port, the male connector comprising a perimeter wall defining an external shape of the male connector and enclosing a gas conduit. The perimeter wall comprises a distal portion defining a first cross-sectional area of the male connector, a proximal portion defining a second cross-sectional area of the male connector larger than the first cross-sectional area, and a tapered portion formed between the proximal portion and the distal portion.

A demand regulator for a breathing apparatus. The demand regulator comprises: a flow regulation mechanism for regulating a flow of breathing gas, the flow regulation mechanism having a closed configuration in which breathing gas flow is substantially prevented; a connection mechanism for releasably connecting the flow regulator to a breathing mask, the connection mechanism comprising a release actuator for releasing the connection mechanism; a latch configured to be activated to thereby releasably retain the flow regulation mechanism in the closed configuration; a first latch activation mechanism configured for manual actuation by a user to thereby activate the latch; and a second latch activation mechanism configured to be actuated by the release actuator of the connection mechanism to thereby activate the latch during release of the connection mechanism.

Demand regulator

There is disclosed breathing apparatus equipment which may be in the form of a waist mountable manifold. The breathing apparatus equipment comprises a manifold having a manifold inlet port for a source of breathable gas and at least one manifold outlet port for delivering breathable gas to a user. The equipment further comprises a strap arranged to be worn by the user, and a holder coupled to the strap and having a socket. The socket is configured such that the manifold can be removably located within the socket in multiple orientations.

Breathing apparatus equipment

There is disclosed a fluid adapter for a breathable gas delivery device, such as a facemask, for delivering breathable gas to a user. The fluid adapter comprises an adapter body defining an adapter chamber; a pressurized gas inlet port in fluid communication with the adapter chamber and arranged to be fluidically coupled to a source of pressurized breathable gas and an ambient air inlet port arranged to provide fluid communication between the adapter chamber and ambient air outside of the fluid adapter. The adapter also comprises an adapter outlet port in fluid communication with the adapter chamber and arranged to be fluidically coupled to a delivery device gas inlet port of the breathable gas delivery device; and an adapter connector arranged to connect the fluid adapter to the breathable gas delivery device such that the adapter outlet port is fluidically coupled to the delivery device gas inlet port.

Fluid adapter and fluid coupling

There is disclosed a lung demand valve comprising: a body within which is disposed a diaphragm and a valve assembly having a valve inlet, the valve assembly and diaphragm arranged to cooperate to control the delivery of breathable gas to a user. There is also provided a breathable gas inlet fluidically connected to the valve inlet inside the body and arranged to be fluidically connected to a supply of breathable gas; and a whistle coupled to the body. The whistle has a whistle inlet fluidically connected to the breathable gas inlet inside the body and a whistle outlet disposed outside the body. In use, when the pressure of the breathable gas in the breathable gas inlet is less than a threshold, breathable gas flows from the breathable gas inlet through the whistle inlet and outlet thereby causing the whistle to sound outside of the body.

Lung demand valve

A diaphragm for a lung demand valve, including a CBRN layer which is sufficiently resistant to the permeation of at least some CBRN agents and a resilient layer which is resiliently deformable. The CBRN layer is arranged to restrict the permeation of at least some CBRN agents through the diaphragm, and the resilient layer is arranged to allow the diaphragm to be resiliently deformed.

Diaphragm

A diaphragm for a lung demand valve, including a chemical, biological, radiological and/or nuclear (CBRN) layer which is sufficiently resistant to the permeation of at least some CBRN agents and a resilient layer which is resiliently deformable. The CRBN layer is arranged to restrict the permeation of at least some CBRN agents through the diaphragm, and the resilient layer is arranged to allow the diaphragm to be resiliently deformed.

A structural support memberfor a harnessfor breathing apparatus, the structural support member being generally elongate and arranged in use to support a cylinder of breathable gas, the structural support member comprising: a frame having; a lower portionarranged in use to support a first end of a cylinder; an upper portion arranged in use to support a second opposed end of the cylinder; and first and second side limbscoupling the upper and lower portions and defining a voidtherebetween, in a substantially central region of the frame.

Structural support member for a harness for breathing apparatus

The present invention relates to a gas-cylinder retaining assemblyfor retaining a gas-cylinder on a harness for breathing apparatus. The retaining assembly comprises a straparranged in use to be coupled to the harness and a retaining portion of which is arranged to pass around at least a portion of the cylinder; a tensioning devicearranged for tightening the retaining portion of the strap around the cylinder such that the cylinder is held to the harness, and wherein a free portion of the strap, having a free end, extends from the tensioning device; and a retaining bucklearranged for retaining the free portion of the strap, the retaining bucklecomprises a positioning slotthrough which in use the retaining portion of the strap passes; a pivot memberwhich in use is located between the cylinder and the retaining portion of the strap; and a retaining slot arranged in use to receive the free end of the strap. In use the retaining buckleis pivotable between at least a loading position in which the free end of the strap can be inserted into the retaining slot, and a retaining position in which at least part of the free portion of the strap is held between the retaining buckle and the retaining portion of the strap.

Gas-cylinder retaining assembly

A harness for use with breathing apparatus has: a flexible hip plateand a flexible bandolier-style shoulder panel, linked together by a strap, and a waist beltfastenable by a sprung fastener. In use, the flexible hip platerests against the hip of a user (the left hip in this example), the waist belt is fitted around the waist of the user, and the shoulder panelrests against the shoulder opposite to the hip against which the flexible plate is resting (the right shoulder in this example). At least the bandolier-style panel, and optionally also the hip plateof the harness, are made of a resilient material which, though flexible, allows the harness substantially to retain its operational configuration even when not being worn.

Harnesses

A harnessfor breathing apparatus, comprising: a structural support memberhaving a fixing portion, and at least one straphaving a loop. The strap is arranged to be releasably attached to the structural support member. The fixing portion comprises a first slotthrough which a portion of the strap is arranged to pass in use; and a first anchor memberlaterally spaced from the first slot extending in a direction substantially parallel to the first slot and arranged in use to releasably locate at least partly within the loop of the strap through a first side of the loop.

Harness for breathing apparatus

A shoulder strap for a harness for breathing apparatus includes a first elongate strap portion generally extending along a first longitudinal axis; a second elongate strap portion attached to the first strap portion and generally extending along a second longitudinal axis that is oblique to the first axis; and a first attachment portion for attaching a first end of the shoulder strap to the harness in use and a second attachment portion for attaching a second end of the shoulder strap to the harness in use.

Two-part structural support member for a harness for breathing apparatus

A face mask () mechanically coupled to a lung demand valve (LDV) (). The face mask () comprises a main mask and an inner mask () which fits over the wearer's mouth and nose. The interior of the inner mask () is in fluidic communication with the interior of the main mask () by means of non-return valves (). The interior of the main mask is in fluidic communication with an inlet port () which is mechanically and fluidically coupled to a supply port () of an LDV. The LDV () includes a diaphragm and a cover () which comprises three parts () and (). Exhaled air is used to flush the space around the diaphragm. Thus, any toxic or undesirable gas in the vicinity of the diaphragm is pushed out to atmosphere by the exhaled air flowing past and around the diaphragm.
